What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Finally got those three units compressed into two, and freed up one more unit to rent out.

Guess I needed a supervisor.

Found what I thought was wrong with the plasma cutter.
Whatever kind of plastic line they used for the air feed disintegrated.
I did find a line at Lowes that worked with the connectors for six bucks.
A replacement torch and hose if three times what I paid for the entire unit!
Soapy feeling blue plastic clogging everything.
Cleaned out torch as best as I could.
I did get the new line back into the torch body.

Still no workie, though.
The only other thing I can think of is that the back part of the torch doesn't move super easy.
I guess it gets pushed back by the flamefront to allow more air to flow through the tip.
Guess I'll take it back apart for a fourth time and see if I can free it up and maybe lube it..

Took a load of scrap.
Figures, had been advertised at $8.25 /100.....the day before I went.
Of course, the day I went it was 7.25!
I went past that place that had the sign out front to the pace I used to go to regularly.
It was 7.50 there.
660 pounds...$49.50.
I also had two radiators and a transmission torque strut- aluminum was 40 cents a pound, so another $5.60

I think that made my labor 10 bucks an hour!

I guess making two good things from three bad things is one of my super powers.

Made two good radios from three inop radios at work.

One had stripped belt clip hole.

One had chewed up antenna connector.

One had a bad circuit board and donated the frame and connector to the other two.

Getting these apart is not super fun.

I was called out at 3:45pm yesterday, but since the Dump closes at 4:00pm, I said I'd be there in the morning. I have spent all day there today trying to dry out a control cabinet for a Compactor after the heavy rain yesterday....and worse last night. Relays & switches are full of water.....arrived home about a half hour ago after collecting all the parts I need for a big replacement tomorrow...including a PLC that got soaked.
I just checked the local Water company website see how much rain we got yesterday....since the Dams were down to around 83% when I checked on Wednesday....

I bought this 2008 John Deere 2305 TLB new. It has served me well over the years. Never had to do anything to it other than routine maintenance. The other day I was digging a hole, and the dipper cylinder seals gave out, blowing hydraulic fluid out the front seal.
Looking the machine over, Can't justify replacing it. Everything works, just needs a little refreshing. Went to the local John Deere distributor, ordered rebuild kits for every hydraulic cylinder, going to have a local hose shop make all new hoses, replace all fluids and filters. A new seat, and should be like new and last another 18years. Started the rebuild today.

The only debate now is, glass top range or coil top?
Either one has its flaws with renters.... I replaced an induction glass top a few years ago for a client....pot slammed down a bit hard and cracked the glass...rendering it unsafe.

The coil tops are easier for druggies to heat the hash on spoons or knives. I've seen the damage done when I worked on Govt housing repairs a while back.

You can't win either way. :(
