Oh my gosh!!! What the heck there is so many wires not connected to anything!!!

I have the firewall plug out with the dash harness. The speedometer needle fell off. I put it back on but it looks skoash. I am replacing the ash tray with the Aces fuel injection screen. Well I’m gonna keep updating as I go!

Wish me luck

With the level of wiring you need to do, I recommend taking the dash out. Trust me, chasing wiring issues can eat up a lot of time! More than likely you will need to remove the windshield to do this, but then the dash comes out very easily with some screws in the front against the cowl and two big bolts down by the kick panels.

I know this seems like a lot of work, but I think it will save you time in the end. With the dash out, you can easily get to everything and wire things cleanly and nicely.

I appreciate the tip but I will not be going deeper into that level. I have looked into the connections and laid out the new harness and I feel pretty confident. I will post updates

So I have all the wires laid out and somewhat routed. So I read it and still went on routing but Painless wiring does NOT have GROUND WIRES. Off to the store!

Day 3 or 4 of wiring, had to call Painless because of a misprint in the instructions.
Now I’m trying to figure out how the new wires integrate with the new ACES EFI system. I was on the phone with both today and now I just need to finish up the motor. I’m hoping to move onto the interior.

So we wanted to see how it will look. This is just for fun and not the final paint at all.

Probably gonna be a little wider

Even though it's a Dodge stripe, have you considered putting it where Chrysler applied itView attachment 2016786
Oh I like that! Yes going over the marker lights! We want just a single stripe not the small ones. The guy that’s gonna paint the whole car is going to paint the stripe. No vinyl so it will be smooth to touch

Well painless not painless wiring. I like the harness as it’s laid out pretty straight forward but there are wires for things I’m not using or have so it slowed me down a little. But we are hoping to get it started this weekend. Fingers crossed !

I did take out the AC unit! I’m getting the old Air system and if the speedometer doesn’t work after I have put the needle back on then we will be ordering gauges like the roadrunner.

Today was very productive. Dash installed 75% and I built a glove compartment out of a plastic tub. Mounted the ACES fuel injection monitor were the ash tray was. Tomorrow we are hoping to start it for the first time in over a year!

Got it going but still wrapping up some stuff. Had to add a larger air filter because she was struggling with throttle response but now she breathes! Our first test drive was eventful: water leak at coolant pipe at intake and the kick down doesn’t seem to be working correctly. Probably I just hooked it up wrong.

Also I ordered gauges because the whole panel was just not giving info. No fuel level, water temp, ampmeter and the speedo was jumping like a frog. I had lights that’s about it.

so close!

Positive notes: Water leak fixed, all new gauges work, hood scoop installed, back window installed!
Bad news: Oil pressure dropped during test drive to 0 psi. No power in acceleration. I’m pretty sure the timing is way off.

I’m going to adjust timing and I ordered an oil pump preemptively just in case.

I’m getting my butt kicked trying to finish this. Ugh…….

Well we are taking the engine back out to go for a rebuild. Oil pump failing, main crank bearings clapping just rattling apart underneath. Just another hurdle. I wish I would have done a proper rebuild when it was sitting on the stand for 6 months.

Dang. That sucks. I bet your son was bummed out.

Well motor is off to Blains in Dallas for rebuild(lower bearing began rattling like a tin can full of rocks in a dryer!!

But sent it off to paint while we wait on the engine to return!
Got the instrument panel installed
