im not going to go nuts with it. 350/375 HP will be fine with me. I always have liked poly's. Thay pull real nice just with a 2bbl on them in a truck. i will for sure try and chat with him as i have seen the name before as to knowing whats up with a A block.
In the mean time im going to drop...
thats the thing with them strait shot ... with them being a cross flow head i don't know why thay shouldn't be able to make a lot of power. looking at the pic ya have here makes me wonder if a single plane would work better. but from what i have been reading .. 4.50 is about the max lift...
i been doing some looking around and thinking on how i can use my poly even tho it has a bobo. it would seem that thay can be stroked and bored alot. like over 400 cubes. if im reading things right just about all the guts from a LA will work in the A block.., so why can't i use a 360 crank...
i thin k this should cover it .... but the flywheel and damper will only work on the 62 up poly without the crank snout on the back of it.
per mopar performance magazine.... LA (273,318,340,360) and poly parts that swap:
distributor (electronic or points)
distributor/oil pump drive gear
oil...
ok.. cool. my 62 (i should have said that in the first line) still has the trans in it but no converter. i have 2 core 68 RR 727's laying around. should be able to swap out the drum and input ...
here is more info for ya.... in 65-ish big cars. new yorker / imp. with the 413 in it. thay used a factory stall converter... someplace in the 2800-3k stall range. if i remeber right. it was part of a tow/police package.
1737929 sez 318 57-8. guess il find out when i pull the heads. i seen to remember reading someplace ya can bore them all the way out to a 326. so im guessing thay used the same block casting for them all.
