Yep, only way to go in my opinion. First/second pics are prior to me restoring it but you can see the look. now it’s being put back together and I’m using the same slicks but with chromed mopar steelies, third pic. I use Radirs as they are one of the only cheater slicks that aren’t recaps.
Not in your area but if you are willing to ship you can’t get better than Doug “Fireball” Miller at Fireball Automatics. Knows them inside and out and btw won the NHrA winter nationals one year in a 64 hemi Plymouth. In Canada about 20min over the boarder from New York.
Sorry to hijack thread but I see 65hemi used band clamps instead of the u clamps provided. Is it better to buy these separately instead of the U clamps? Just received my exhaust today from tti
I have one of Larry’s 64 hemi scoops. Good scoop and I like the studs mounted into the bottom for easier install. Little sanding here and there to make it fit the hood contour perfectly but all good. I’d buy again.
I did the satin black hood and scoop on a gloss black car. I liked the look. Since then the car is stripped to nothing for a complete paint job but it does look good in satin.
the ones in the picture aren’t mine but I have the same ones in black. The picture in grey just showed the holes better for the conversation. Center section from an A100 welded into a hoop. 7” wide 4.5” backspace. I think I will buy a pair of the ones mentioned above when the Canada-US border...
My 64 hardtop is going black with red interior. I like that combo because of all the trim on the black really pops. If you are going that plain Jane SS look (which I love by the way) consider the factory mid-grey with red interior (looks like a light pewter). I debated a long time on this grey...
Wheel sizes were tiny. 5” wide I think. Slicks were 7” wide which I think was mandated by the NHRA, couldn’t go bigger in 63/64. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong but I think 7” was the widest you could go.
So I have noticed that the FURY 4 doors seem to have individual letters. See pic above. I have not seen SPORT in individual letters but maybe the 4 doors were different for some reason?
I’ve never seen the individual letters either. They don’t reproduce the rear quarter ones. Trunk script yes, not rear quarter lettering. Is it possible yours were cut apart and little studs welded to each letter? Sort of a custom thing?
