Burn it down! How much gid you spill? Clean it with lacquer thinner. The 60's sure-grip lube with whale oil was the worst, rotten eggs, mad at somebody pour that inside there car on a hot day.
I was waiting for someone to chime in on the valve covers, that was the first thing I noticed too. I busted their chops about it, but they will be fine like that for the dyno. That is the 73 water pump that was original to this engine, and I am just using that for the dyno as well. It will be...
I said it before but just what the hemi is creates huge variability to me.
Is it used up 1966 castings? Looks like AL heads, does it have aftermarket valve gear, stroked?
Basically, is it a $50-60k hemi or a time bomb with a few nice pieces bolted on top?

The 8 3/4" axle has that vent that should allow for expansion as the lube warms up and gets sloshed around.
If the axle lube was added with the axle in the car, it isn't easy to overfill it....The lube gets to the fill hole and wants to spill out as you're adding it.
Manual valvebody. They are available from most performance suppliers or a Transgo TF3 kit will convert your original VB to manual operation. You will have to shift the trans into every range you want to use-no more auto shifting.

Mancini Racing has 509 cams. In I believe flat tappet and solid flavors. But don't quote me on that. I know Flat tappet for sure.
