Happy to report she smooth as silk now. Instantly rips 7k with part throttle blips like it’s a 340.. now to take some gear out and do a wheel alignment.
It’ll handle the biggest 4150 you can put on it. If the car has a gear and convertor I’d use the single plane. TM7 will work good. Ran a TM6 on my low deck 512. Went into the 10’s on it a 4000#.
I tried with a grinder, it ended up at a machine shop as it was going to be a bitch. These blocks are super hard. I initially thought no big deal with a burr… lol
I was lacking confidence in the balance job on the new crank. Took it up to my buddies shop and spun it. Was 20 grams heavy on the front and just over 30 heavy on the back. I had a feeling it was a slam it out the door job..
My post may have been misunderstood. They did supply me a new balanced crankshaft. It felt somewhat reluctant but in the end they made it right. It took 2 road trips across the state as well as lots of labor, supplies, and gaskets though to fix the initial screw up.
I seen a small block ford...
Yeah, they went as far as having the guy who welded it call me and tell me he’s been doing this for 30 years and it’s perfectly fine. Then it was send it back and we will re-weld it. Needless to say I struggled to maintain any sort of composure.. lol
Quick update to my saga. They balanced the crank and sent it back. Needless to say I was less than impressed. No filler rod used to weld weight in. Crack on the counter weight as well as the welds.. not something I’m going to put in my 7k 800hp hemi…
After lots of deliberation I now have a new...
Itll work good. There are some good single plane 4 barrel intakes out there that make great power but hemi’s are kind if boring to look at imo with single carbs.. even with a dominator.
With 426 cubes the original style x-ram is the better choice. The newer MP version is better suited on 500+ cube engines. Cant compare the wedge cross ram to the hemi unit, 2 very different manifolds.
Exactly what I would prefer. I feel like adding 230 grams to the counterweights of this crank is not ideal. Makes you angry when you pay good money for something and it gets screwed up in the process. Guess I’ll see what they have to say when they see it. They offered to rebalance it if I bring...
Spent the last 6 years or so collecting parts and building my hemi. As most know, these things aren’t cheap so it takes time. Finally got it all assembled last winter. Ran it on the dyno in January but had some issues with a vacuum leak on the cross ram. Tossed an old unported Barton single...
