He did a clinic here at Patrick Dodge here probably about February or March in 1971-2. Someone asked him would he use a six pack for the strip. He said no as far as I can remember.
I'll throw out there that if someone is reading this in the future.. go .055 over first. Then you're using the common 4.375 ring package, and leaving yourself room to go 60 in the future..
I attended one of his Clinics here in St. Thomas, Ontario, and won a Hustle Stuff (before Direct Connection) catalogue as a door prize. I wish I still had it. I had my 1969 SuperBee back then. He raced that weekend at nearby Sparta Dragway.
Chrysler came out with the competition crushing large port factory RB heads. Then promptly shut that down in favor of the world dominating hemispherical heads. So I guess we are just lamenting the loss of our own HP wedge versions...
And they didn't make all that many super duper chevy 990...
I politely disagree with the grain of salt. Please elaborate.
What did they omit in their testing?
What could they do better?
They cannot test every 440 block in existence. There is not a big problem with these 440 blocks failing. Or giving up in a mild street car application.

You aint kidding. I was able to solve that issue, found a leak at the proportioning valve and now I'm trying to find out why the driver side caliper is leaking. I have new bolt and crush washers, but no matter how tight I make it, the damn thing still leaks.
Well, good point j-c-c-62...but I am not anything you are saying..it's too deep for me, I appreciate your input. I will rely on the Machine Shop :
1. Have machine shop, in this case Pettis Engineering Hesperia CA check block.
2. Magna flux same block
3. Sonic test same block.
All good...
Using...
One word... aftermarket. It is WAY cheaper and WAY easier to make a high powered Chevy, especially the LS... than a Mopar. And the options for a Chevy are 1000 to 1. to Mopar. No comparison at all. But is that because of design or sheer number, availability, and cost? If design, then I say Mopar...
100% agree... hence my point about Mopar stock heads... they dropped the ball there. And yes, now with Indy, TF... it's a game changer. But the other points... you have to agree with :)
I grew up in a ford new car franchise store and you wouldn’t believe the cars I use to get for less than $500 (many times $100-$200) on trade ins in the early to mid 80’s. A $1000-1500 would get you a really nice “gas guzzler”. I once bought (6) 1st gen Camaros out of a trailer park for $750...
Well let's start with numbers. 383 vs 350.
They made 3 million 383's.. and over one- hundred- miiilliiion 350s....
so if youre in business strictly for profit..
DO NOT buy cheap hog rings from Amazon. They are Chinesium imitations made from thinner gauge metal and are too short to work properly. Very frustrating. I ran short of the Legendary ones and needed some in a hurry.
I did the front and rear seats in my 64 Valiant convertible and they are...
