Just a suggestion. After installation install that torsionbar last.Run the engine( break in ?) have the pipes hot when trying to bend them.
Along with making sure the header flange to head bolts are tight. You may find little or no adjustment is necessary. Then install the torsionbar.
I have the engine out of my car and removed the front end to rebuild. I have now re-installed the front end and the lead end of the torsionbar won't line up exactly with the pattern on the lower control arm receiver. I have the specific torsionbar tool that clamps onto the torsionbar to...
OK. Thanks for these suggestions.
What I will do next is to change lca bushings. Then I will install them like you said, with all wheels on the ground.
But I don't understand you saying that ride height is too low. It's not low, I try to be on original height level. But the higher I get, the...
So I am reassembling the front suspension now I just want to make sure that I’m not screwing something up. Here with it here’s what I have so far:
1. The UCA, LCA, sway bar, shock, spindle, are all reinstalled but not tightened, torsionbar too.
2. I still have the bump stop for the upper...
Torsionbars are marked on each end as L or R so no question about which side. I do have a question about orientation. Is there a front to back? I’ve read different opinions.
Also I’ve prepared to install them following all the norms. Removed the bump stops. Backed out the adjusting bolts...
I'm no expert but i believe you need to get all the weight off the lower control arm. This relieves all the tension off the torsionbar. You need to remove the lower shock bolt and the bump stop because you want the lower control arm as far down as it will go when installing the new one. If it's...
Okay, I finally got this problem solved.
Basically, the issue is the top portion of the slots that the bars ride in. They are supposed to retain the bar at the farthest forward position but because they were worn and slightly deformed the bars would slide toward the rear of the car with a loud...
When removing the trans in 73ssp does the torsionbar cross member have to come out. Have both engine and trans out now and was waiting for converter to install everything at once.getting impatient so might install engine now. Thanks for your help
Well, got the old 727 out... not sure what the failure was. Appears that it might have been the front pump & seal, since it dumped alot of fluid on the ground before I shut it off.
Used a Jegs 79010 transmission jack for my lift, worked fairly well... but I needed to use my engine hoist to...
Well I do but prior to this the oldest car I ever owned was a 83 Datsun 280zx turbo. As far as suspension goes. It's a base model road runner it's a 73 (disc front breaks already and drum in the back.) 318 with a 904 i don't really care about keeping it stock or numbers matching. I wanna build...
So I've started the process of installing new PST torsionbars on my 69 Bee, figured I do something enjoyable on this holiday before having to go deal with family.
I've read most of the posts and have the FSM, but for the life of me, I can't understand why the upper control arm bump stop is...
69 charger with a 383. I think my leaf springs are worn out and I've been looking for a new set. My intent is a nice handling car. I'm not an autocross racer but I do enjoy the twisty mountain roads here. So my frame of mind is to do nothing that isn't an improvement in handling. I have a 7/8...
Just installed Doug's 452's in my 1969RR with 512. No issue with torsionbar on driver side (3/8 clear). Passenger side has no issues, but was a pain to install. Driver side was quick and easy. Angled Plugs fit good with my aftermarket heads.
I forgot PST had a separate sponsor's forum here and my post up in the Suspension & Chassis section wasn't getting much response. My 66 was sitting very uneven in the front and I ran out of adjustment on one side before I could get it up high enough. Crossmember and sockets are all like-new...
I’d like to know more details about these failures/poor metal and when the manufacturing dates occurred. I took delivery on a full system this year and in process of install.
that being said, do I understand the aftermarket are not marked Left Right? I nought a set of aftermarket, and now I will not install as they are not marked PST, and PST will not make right
hey mate, I just did the suspension on my Charger using all PST stuff - torsionbars, front sway bar etc. I used Bilstein shocks. I'm yet to install the adjustable UCAs. The difference is night and day. The car is so much better to drive It doesn't feel like a boat anymore and it's planted in...
