Hi Rich, did you ever figure out what rim and tiresizes you can use on your RR? I'm redoing a '71 GTX and I like the way the wheels look on your pictures!
...The info will be very helpful to me as I consider ride height on my 67 Belvedere II.
My question for you is about those wheels: American Torque Thrusts? I absolutely love them and wanting to put some on my ride. Yours look like 14s. What wheel width and what tiresizes are you sporting?
...GV are on the to do list. Plus redo front seat, complete suspension redo, upsize the brakes all around along with 15's[ already know what tiresizes I want], diy frame connectors, efi? maybe, rewire, LED headlamps, freshen engine/trans, get rid of the Green bearings plus some other things...
I've owned my '69 GTX since fall of '69 as second owner. Since it is a numbers matching car, I left the original 14" road wheels (see pic). I just decided to change wheels when I found a great deal on HK Magnum 17x6" wheels with 3.75" BS. (BTW...Summit Racing and Holley both have great deals on...
I'm totally ignorant as to what tiresizes
fit your Satalite, but if you're able to fit
a larger diameter tire in the wheelwells,
this would be a cheaper alternative to
swapping gears.
For example-
A 29.00 tall tire would spin your engine
at 2521 rpm's @ 60 with 3.55 gears.
Which is exactly what...
The 15x6 are A12 rims, 4" backspace I think, with 235 70x15s. The rears are 15x8 ramchargers with 4" bs also, not enough offset for my car to run 275s, so there got 255/70x15s on em. I've got some 10x28x16 slicks that fit great with 4 3/4" bs. (very dusty Arizona garage).
...asked about mph vs my rpm, and that i had the stock height G60 gy plygls tires before.. Rims are 8" all around so I have a good choice of tiresizes available ! 440ci, single 4brl carb, mild cam, alum heads but mild from what we can tell, 727 3 speed auto.
I agree with your views, likely...
...redline tires on my GTX. Decided on 15x7 wheels on all four corners. Went with 225/70R15 tires on the front and 255/60R15 on the rear. The tiresizes pretty well level out the ride of the car. Like the beefier look under the rear end. Looks like maybe a little over an inch of clearance...
17” performance tire options are limited as well. I went 17” wheels and am sorry I didn’t go 18”. Needless to say I will be selling my 17” wheels / tires or putting them on a different car.
I think you will be ok with 70's on a 8.5 rim.
No 2 tire manufactures make sizes exactly the same, tho numerically they are the same.
I have run 75 series on a 8'' rim without a problem or looking stupid.
I never had any issues with any of the M/T street tires, Slicks or drag radial I ever got
well worth the $$$, they are nowhere near the most expensive,
for a raised white letter sport tire, more middle of the road
especially in the offroad AT/MT stuff...
It's not always about price...
never had...
I feel like the dude that keeps going back to an ex girlfriend that isn't perfect for him but is convenient.
The nice wheels that I really like....
Will surely cost well over $1500, the tires about $1200. I would be more likely to spend that to have these wheels for this car...
I think it...
Not clear if you are simply looking for the biggest tire that will fit w/o rubbing or opinion on size. Either way, I think you got the answer to both. Opinions can vary greatly on the latter.
It's tough to tell. The front rims look skinny, perhaps 5"? The rears look wide, 8 or 8.5. Tiresizes?
Remember, many guys change out the 64' rear end for one a few years newer because they are narrower.
I'm not sure if you want to do that to your car. I have an idea. Go to YouTube and type in...
Trying to nicely ask about modern rims without provoking vintage rim fans. I like the 60's look too, but imagine how much it would suck if I spent 5 years and much $ building my 72 Charger only to have it make my 90's Buick feel fast.
I think I can accept the look of this rim -
Kinda...
