Thank you. The reason I posted is my driver's side rear drum heats up to 170 degrees compared to 70-80 on the passenger side after a 30 minute drive. I had the wheel/braking assembly and bearing checked with 2 different mechanics and they found nothing.
I am looking to see what you all have on your 1970 Road Runners or GTX! I currently have 15s on it now but am looking to put a newer style on it! I'm wondering if an 18" rim is almost too much? I don't think I would want to go any bigger. But I would love to see some pictures and see what...
...the rim width. Several online “calculators” will provide info on the actual over bulge or under fill of a rim with recommended min/max tiresizes. 295 should be on a 10”, but folks run it on an 8”. I have the 295 on a 9”.
For fitment, I use this link:
Rim & Tire Size Calculator. Custom...
The tooth count is usually molded inti the gear. It doesn't necessarily relate to the ring & pinion ratio. The current tiresizes do not really relate to the sizes shown in a service manual. Several charts for speedo pinion and modern tiresizes are on the net. A speedo pinion for a 2.76 gear...
...wheel sizes for my 64 Fury - Ill be buying Torq thrust wheels - I'm still on the fence as to 15" OR 16" and I don't know what to order as far as offset's for the front and rear..... any advice / experience you have would be helpful.
- Rims, Offsets & tiresizes, etc.
Thanks

15s have a better selection for tiresizes.
14s though still seem to have a pretty decent amount of new tires available.
60s 70s 75s.
Hard to tell the difference on a car unless you go read the side wall.
I would keep the 14s, some of stock look restorations still run hub caps.
Lol, I just...
Thank you everyone for the input. I now have a set of the 15x7 mopar steel rims. I appreciate the start for tiresizes.... as you all mentioned, I will take measurements on my car before my tire purchase.
Last question first. Yes, disc conversions often move the wheel farther toward the fender. The disc hat is usually thicker than a drum.
It looks like you mini-tubbed it, without narrowing the rearend. That works, but that means you need more backspace than normal, and a LOT more backspace than...

I currently have vintage 15x8 American Racing Vectors on the car, with some slight rubbing issues in the rear. Front are great.
I'm wondering what offset I need to order for 17x10s in the rear, and 17x8 in the front. Suggested tiresizes would be great...
Hello all! The wheels on my 79 300 are in rough shape, and I have never liked them much anyway. I am tossing around the idea of either staying with 15' or maybe going up to 17". Anyone know what tires and wheel sizes fit without rubbing or modifications? Thanks in advance for your help...
There are all aluminum replicas in 15” & 17” and larger sizes, but I suspect all the true to original, chrome steel Magnum 500s in 14/15” size are probably from a single manufacturing source. I know there have been some custom wheel shops that take old centers and weld them to different size...
You have 5/8 or so to the fender. A 255 is almost an inch wider than a 235,so a half inch more in each direction. Leaves you 1/8 of an inch. Think that will work?
Sorry.
Edit:your 8 with 3.75 backspace moves everything an inch closer to the fender than his 15x7 with 3.75 bs. The exact problem...
I have to decide on what tires to put on the 69 Hemi car. It makes over 700 WHP. That makes the decision a little tough. Sizes I need are Front 245/45-17, Rear 275/40-17
I am leaning toward Mickey Thompson ET Street tires on the back, with an all season on the front.
Discount tire $1025, or...
The 14’s are stock. 215/75 in front and 235/70 in back. No mags, just OEM steels with Mopar hubcaps. I also plan to convert the front drums to disc once the snow flies this winter so wanted a little bigger wheel to accommodate the discs/calipers.
Dusty in the garage, and a poor camera in my tablet, but this is what I got. The daisies will NOT be used. The rears have too little backspace to put a decent tire on and clear the fender. I want tall fronts and short fronts , depending on if I'm redlighting at the track, or not
If you want to buy a "loose" over the counter, cheaper 10"-11"one size fits all convertor a 2500 works good w 3.23- 3.55. 2500- 3000 stall with 3.90- 4.10s. Some guys can run a 3500 w 4.10s and a short tire. If you buy a loose 4000 stall it is pretty much for drag racing.
If you want a better...
...cranked the torsion bars up about 1.5 inches. The tires fit with no issues, and seem to be great on the front of this old car.
So, final tiresizes....
Rear - 295x65x15 on a 15x8 rim with 4.5 inch backspacing.
Front 235x70x15 on a 15x6 rim.
I hope this helps anyone wondering about...
235x75x15 is actually the tire size I am considering. My headers are Dougs that are 100% under chassis. I dont have the tube sneaking through the inner fender. My 28" Mickey Thompsons did not rub, so I think I should be good with the 235x75x15. I am pretty sure I will go with the Torque Thrusts...
