So the covers are not original after looking at a few examples at a show today but something that presents as decent start for someone looking for a factory base to recover with OE style covers.
No. The mount to the chrome ring is solid. There is good resistance when I turn the chrome ring to mount it to the base (whatever that piece is called). But after it’s mounted, it has some play in it. Not sure if that’s normal, but it has enough play to rattle when I ride over bumps in the road.
Looking at the posted specs, the Hughes springs have a rate of 336lbs/in.
If they’re 150lbs at 1.880, that would put them at 166lbs at 1.830.
Imo, that’s asking for a problem.
