I'm curious what others are using for a fan and shroud on their Darts with a big block. I have a 413 and an aluminum 26" radiator from AutoCity Classics. I had a shroud that was on the previous factory radiator that the last owner zip tied on but the shroud broke. Fan wise, it has an aftermarket...
I’ve been trying to remove the rear drums on my 62 Dart. The shoes are adjusted in and I have pulled on the breaker bar until the axle lifts up and bends the pry bar but it doesn’t budge. I had the center soaking in PB Blaster last night and still nothing. Is there a trick to getting them off...
I have been messing with this setup all morning and can't figure it out. I can adjust the throttle cable to where the carb is closed when the pedal isn't pressed but when the pedal is to the floor the throttle is only open about half way. Conversely, when it's adjusted to open fully it doesn’t...
What are the differences between lifters from a 65 and older RB compared to a later 60's 440? Some site show sets that fit year ranges from 1958 to 1965 and others only from 68-72. I thought the valve train in the big block were all the same?? I checked out a lifter from a 67/68 440 and compared...
I got the 413 installed and running but man is it having trouble. It's popping through the carb on acceleration (I checked the wiring, timing, etc. It runs an MSD box and factory electronic dizzy) and the oil pressure isn't steady like it used to be. It's also has a very noticeable knock now...
I'm putting an aluminum radiator in my 62 Dart in place of a 1969 Mopar rad that's falling apart. I have a shroud that was on the '69 radiator and was wondering if it's really needed at this point. I've seen other vehicles without one, but obviously I don't know how the car is driven. I live in...
I've had issues with the ɓack of the passenger valve cover leaking pretty good no matter what I used. It's on a 1965 model 413. Is there a trick to getting these valve covers to not leak? The edge of the cylinder head is really narrow and porous, which I find odd. Why wouldn't it be machined...
I'm working on putting my 413 back together and wondered what you folks use for thread sealer on the intake and exhaust bolts. I have some Permatex thread sealant, #80623, I use on water passage fittings but I do know if it will be sufficient for the intake and exhaust hardware.
Does anyone know what these numbers mean? They're stamped on the end of both cylinder heads on my 413. They read 11565. Is it a date stamp of some kind?
Before I go too crazy in trying to get these out, I want to see what others have done to remove them. I've tried the vise grip and hammer deal. Soaked the bases in PB oil and tried. Used the slot at the top and that didn't work. I'm trying not to break them obviously, but if they do, all well...
There are four of these on my motor. One on each side of the block on the center freeze plug and one on the back of each cylinder head. They say CMF VOID IF REMOVED. Are these indicating this is a remaned engine???
I'm looking at the radiators from AutoCityClassics and their associated fan shroud. Has anyone had cooling issues with using an electric fan and shroud like they offer? I'm running a 413 in my '62 Dart and the rad in it now is literally falling apart. Theirs is an all aluminum, 26" core designed...
I'm spending the next 2-3 months sprucing up my '62 Dodge. From what I have been able to tell the previous owner swapped in a mildly built 1965 413, with an A833 from a '69 Charger. I have the motor and bellhousing out so I can touch up the engine bay and motor. The flywheel looks like it has...
I've been looking at different intakes for my 413. I like things that are different and unique (hence why I have a '62 Dart) and have looked into a dual quad setup. I also like my power and have always said you can never have enough. The motor is currently mildly built with a Mopar Purple cam...
I'm helping someone decode their tag but I can't find some of the missing data. His VIN decodes to a 1962 Dart 440 V8 made in Newark, DE. Ironically his date of mfg is the same as mine only his sequence number was 777 whereas mine was 765.
On the middle alphabet row he has A-2, H-3, L-1 and...
I was wondering if the inside top of my doors are supposed to be painted to match the interior or if it's supposed to match the exterior. Just the top portion of the door is blue like the interior but the rest of it is white like the exterior. Is this normal?
I pulled out onto the road and all of a sudden the needle started bouncing all over the place. Eventually it quit and I heard a metal clinking sound behind the dash. Come to find out the peg that the needle presses onto is broke. Can this be repaired by chance? I already have another speedo...
Is there a place where I can decode the numbers on my 4 spd? I finally got all of the numbers off of it and want to know more about it.
UPDATE: I found a website where I was able to decode most of the numbers. The only one I can't decode is the top number on the VIN pad. It reads 9B397334. Is...
