Yup, that did it. Used a pair of slip joint pliers, and gently worked the socket back and forth a little. Popped the bulb back in and put the gear in reverse. Ops checked good!!:headbang: Thanks much!
LOL, I know that feeling. I felt that way after finding the roof trim piece for the 3/4 vinyl top on my 71', that didn't look like it had been used in a sword fight. It only took about nine years or so
And don't ask about finding the plastic fasteners used to put it on....:confused5:
Hmm, good idea. I briefly considered that as an option before. So, how exactly did you rotate yours? Vise grips from the back side?....heh heh, that sounds kinky
So, one of the back up lamps just refuses to work. :angry1:There is 12 volts going to the socket, but it's like the socket is not grounded to the housing which in turn grounds to the bumper and then frame. But I find that hard to believe, considering the socket looks like it is pretty well...
Yes it does help out, I've been trying to decide which tire and rim size would look good on my car--which is very similar to yours--I only have 14 inch rally rims at the moment and they look a little wimpy. Some meatier 15 inch (maybe 16"?) rims and tires would look right.
I believe they used muriatic acid, which is available usually where they sell the pool supplies in places such as Lowes. I might try this technique on my old lenses when I have the spare time and inclination.
These are for a 71 Plymouth Satellite/Road Runner/GTX
I purchased them from their E-Bay store, and judging by some of the responses on this thread, that may be the only place I would recommend buying from since you are covered under E-Pay and Pay Pal.
So Mr. UPS man dropped off a package today:headbang:
Inside were my two brand new tail light lenses from Vans Auto that I bought off of their store on E-bay.
I was skeptical about them when I first placed my order, since they cost about 150 bucks versus the other lenses that go for sale at...
Good job on hanging on to that car for that long! I know how life and "the man" like to try and get in the way of our dreams. I remember the gentleman that I bought my 1971 from "had" to sell it because of kids, the wife, etc etc. I have made a vow to myself to never be "that guy".
Great...
Quote:They only grounding point for the engine that I could find before was a small wire that ran from the negative battery terminal (which is connected on the block) to the radiator crossmember.
My negative bat cable setup is exactly this way, although it is actually connected to the front...
So, Mr. UPS man dropped off a package from the Summit peeps yesterday evening
The nice thing about these ignitions is that they have quick disconnect plugs for the wiring harnesses except for the 12v power wires. I left all the old wiring from the last Summit box installed so I didn't...
I agree, their customer service has been real good to me so far. No complaints there. But if Summit box #2 takes a dump, MSD may be the next step. Glad #1 died in my driveway and not somewhere else.
SUM 850610 digital CD ignition
Raising this thread back from the dead....muuaahahahaha:grin:
I installed the summit street n strip ignition (part # SUM 850610) in my 1971 Satellite about a week ago. Install was pretty easy, my first time wiring up an ignition system like this. Directions were...

OK, so I get her moved out of the garage today after work. Got the brakes unfroze, so I needed to cleanse a years worth of dust and dead bugs and give her a wash n' wax. I forgot waxing the lines on this car are almost as good as sex. Yeah, TMI whatever. So I got the camera out and shot a few...
Yeah, and last time I looked they ain't cheap either . I still have the original pair, and they are not busted up but they are dull and have some crazing/hairline cracking going on. I tried out the Meguiars headlight plastic polishing kit, but that only took me so far. I am going to try a...
