This is probably an amateur question.
I have a 1969 440. I have only had this car for 6 years. I don't know who or when the motor was rebuilt. There is a light tapping especially when cold. There is also a little oil seepage past the factory valve covers. I removed the valve covers to...
I've got the harness installed. The long orange wire goes to the back of the fuse box on the output side of the instrument panel fuse. You need this to light up the gear indicator in the console.
All lights now work as they should.
Moparmarks, it looks like you may have spliced into the...
Hey guys,
The center console harness arrived from Tommy (Parts Hound) this morning. Now that I see it I have a better understanding of how it fits in.
Plus, Tommy tags all the ends with notes.
Appreciate everyone's suggestions.
I got this from a guy who works on Chargers
At the console you should have a wiring harness that has three lamps and a connection for the back up switch. This harness has a 6 pin male connector. The six pins terminate as follows:
The shifter light has an orange wire (E2-180, where the 0 stands...
I got a call back from Tommy last night. He is sending me the cables I need along with instructions on where to make the connections.
He said the cable runs underneath the driver's seat, under the sill plate, past the parking brake and up into the dash. Eventually ending at the fuse box.
He is...
I put in a call to Tommy. He is under the weather right now.
Even if I get the cable I am still uncertain where it will connect. This is what I am seeing behind the kick panel.
Hey all,
Looking into why there are no lights at the center console on a 1969 Coronet.
I removed the shifter cover and discovered there is no harness coming into the console.
There is the short harness with the two interior light sockets and the socket for the shift indicator lamp. The...
On my 69 Coronet the speedometer needle bounces like crazy when car is moving 0 -20 mph.
20 - 65 mph the needle is steady an accurate. Above 65 mph the needle starts bouncing again. I inspected the drive gear. Looked good. I had an instrumentation shop in Virginia check the speedometer head...
On my Coronet there is about 3/4" difference in the ride height left to right in the rear. I thought I read somewhere that this could have been intentional. Some folks run their car with more lift on the right side. Any truth to this? I would like to set it up so both sides are 28" fender...
Having a similar problem with a Coronet. Turn off the engine after it runs for awhile. Wait 1-2 minutes. Gas begins dripping out of the vent hose that runs up into the frame. Remove the gas cap and the leak stops. I have blown out the hose.
Hi! Hope everyone is healthy.
Doing my first rear main in a 440 on my back in the garage. The engine is stock.
The leak was not there at idle but started to drip when increasing the RPM.
All dry above from the valve covers and pressure switch.
I dropped the pan and windage tray. Removed...
Somewhat related, here is an article on decarbonizing an engine using walnuts.

There are many more pages and videos detailing this practice.
Beanhead,
I think you've pointed me in the right direction. When I first brought the carb to the shop for rebuild I told them I thought I heard a hissing sound from the air horn. They gave me the carb back assuring me it was good to go, set up to basic conditions. After your comment I took...
Working on a 440 that I did not not put together. Problem is at idle it is very rich and about 15" of vacuum. Stock heads, intake, exhaust. I believe the cam has been changed but I don't have any specs. Engine compression is 160psi across all cylinders. I've already advanced the timimg. No...
I don't think you should beat yourself up too much. It's kinda the nature of the hobby - things go wrong!
My story; I found a car online. Flew 1,500 miles to check the car myself. Drove the car. Inspected it on a lift. Bought it and shipped it home. The first year I had the car I put...
