My 64 Polara is swaped out from a Poly 318 to a 70s 400 BB / automatic. The original console shifter does not seem to have the same shift (travel)detent pattern as the later 727 Tq Flite. Is there a recomended after market shifter to work with the 70s 727 Tq Flite in the 64 Polara?

My 64 Polara BB has a 76 400 B Block and 727 Torque Flite. The 64 console shifter has a different shift lever ratio and doesen't match the detents in the later trans. I installed a reverse lock-out shifter and that has detents for a 4 speed. Works, but manual shifting gives me 2 shifts (clicks)...

Monster Transmission in Brooksville, Fl did that exact thing today and solved the problem. We also used a longer shift cable to locate and increase the 180 deg. bend radius near the cable end, at the trans bracket and away from the Header Collector. Shifting is smooth, with two fingers.
