Dave,
I'm not asking what to change. I was asking if other people have used the "Dial indicator" to find out what their cam is inside the engine. As well as if their are any other tools that work will for measuring a cam inside an engine, without dis-assembly So didn't mean to confuse the...
Lewtot,
Well, My friend gave me the suggestion and I'm not sure what stall converter is in the Charger but He said that I should put a larger one in. He doesn't know jack about Mopars so I don't know why I listened. He's a Chevy specialist. My car is very much stock. However I would really...
Hi all,
I am running a 440 with a newly installed MSD Digital 6A, Pro Billet Distributor, 8.5mm wires and stock champion spark plugs. I want to put in a higher stall converter so it would really help to know the cam. The guy I purchased the car from told me "mild purple cam." Well that could...
I'm up and running, I just needed to take off a few plastic clips that were holding the cables to the inner fender. I took the cable out of one of the clips up top by the master cylinder and it gave me the slack I needed. Ever thing is in and working well. Thanks to all of you for offering your...
It's a 68 charger and yes inner fender, wheel housing. There is a flexible clip that holds the cable and it doesn't reach at this point. If I take it out of the clip it touches the manifold and steering column but still barely reaches. I'm going to try again this evening to get some slack.
Thanks, I'll try again tomorrow but everything is stock on my car, it's completely restored to stock everything. Brand new wiring harness as well. Is this a common issue or is this just me? I only made one attempt. Maybe I'm asking questions too quickly.
Stock 440, stock exhaust manifolds.
I'm sure you have all dealt with this, I am installing a Denso Mini starter in replacement for the factory starter. My cable to the battery and ignition comes down and is in a clip that holds it to the wheel housing. I took the cable out of the clip on the...
That's pretty awesome! Another great story has come out of this thread. I received two new mufflers and I have blown those out too. I blew the passenger muffler the day after I put it on. A small backfire popped it out of it's seam. Then two months later. the driver side goes after a backfire on...
Thanks! This site fatecaptured explains a lot. I agree with the ignition side of the Ballast resistor. I'm also going to look into one of the wires coming out of the bulkhead. I was screwing with the ignition switch and thinking to myself there has to be a way to keep this in the engine...
OK, my original thought was the ignition side of the ballast resistor but I looked on Edelbrocks website and they said do not use the Coil, Ballast resistor or alternator. So I was boggled on where to hook this up. I wanted to hook it up the the fuse box but I have the original 68 fuse block and...
I'll look at the schematic again but I was wondering if anyone has an electronic choke. I'm aware that it needs to have the constant feed of 12 volts when the key is on. What I don't know is which wire to hook it up to. There are so many that are attached to the plug on the ignition switch...
Hey guys,
I put a electric choke on my edelbrock 750. I am attaching the red wire from the choke to the ignition but there are 5 wires to choose from. Black, gold(yellow), dark blue, brown, and red. Any suggestions. This has been keeping me perplexed all afternoon.
Thanks!
Chris
I ordered a electronic choke to help the car start easier. I never put on the Manuel choke last year. I hope this solves the issue in the colder weather. Loved the stories guys! Thanks for helping me laugh about it. I was really pissed when they exploded.
OK, Your stories are cracking me up! Especially this last story about the GTX. After hearing how loud that can be I could only imagine how scared you made the car behind you when those mufflers blew up. Black smoke! OMG! Im having this mental picture that is making my side hurt. I did it at my...
I have a 440 with a 750 edelbrock sitting on top. Cam is a 434 purple cam. no roller rockers. Heads were rebuilt, bored 30 over. Anyways. I was starting the car up. It hasn't been fun getting it started this year. Anyways, I put new plugs in and it fired right up. Then I started it again. Fired...
Much Appreciated!
Thanks for the run down 451Mopar. I'm looking at all my options and don't really know the difference and what applications these gaskets are used for. Champion performance who is doing the head work volunteered to get me a set of gaskets for me. They told me they would set me...
Quick correction, it has a large Purple Cam and the heads are getting decked but nothing serious. I was just wondering if there was a superior gasket that I could use that was better than the average gasket. Or is the average gasket going to do the trick? No leaks and good compression is all I'm...
