Identify axle bearings please - do I need end play adjustment on these?

So I bought the dial indicator. When I set it blindly at 4 notches out from tight I had 0.01,7" play. I tightened it by a notch and I got a more desirable 0.012" play which is middle of the range. Thanks all for the advice.

Identify axle bearings please - do I need end play adjustment on these?

Thanks for your advice. I am using the old cone bearings that were already there. They have 2000 miles on them. I took for a spin yesterday and everything felt ok. I will redo the procedure and take it from there.

Identify axle bearings please - do I need end play adjustment on these?

I am a bit lost here. The manual says to tighten the adjusting nut until there's zero play which I did. You then back it off 4 notches to achieve 0.08"-0.18" play. I don't have a dial indicator so I just used a measuring ruler by the side to see how much play I have. I found I had to back off...

Identify axle bearings please - do I need end play adjustment on these?

That's nothing. She grabbed all the Valentine/Birthday/Christmas cards I gave her over the years and hid them all over the house for my new partner to find. She emptied all the water tanks, that's 50,000 gallons (we are on tank water only). She said my dog disappeared last week and she remains...

Identify axle bearings please - do I need end play adjustment on these?

Thanks Kern. I assume I will have to buy the dial and jig for it. Is there a backyard way or adjusting the play with feeler gauges or other?

Oil pressure down to zero when idling.

UPDATE - problem solved The issue was there wasn't enough oil in the engine. I add a quart of oil and the problem resolved completely. I did some hard braking and drove 20 miles. The Lokar dipstick showed oil to the full mark before adding that quart. So I obviously have the wrong dipstick...

Oil pressure down to zero when idling.

I think the money is right there. I'm low on oil. I ordered oil and filter next week and will see if that fixes the problem. I think the oil pressure readings are correct. The sender is from Summit, Dakota didn't supply a sender. The readings are accurate and measured against a mechanical...

Oil pressure down to zero when idling.

I spoke to the previous owner and apparently it has a Hemi oil pan and a Hemi pickup as pictured. Could this be the issue?

Oil pressure down to zero when idling.

I haven't gone down that road because it's pushing really good pressures while running around town. It's hard to say. When I had the stock gauges the needles move so slowly that I never noticed the change. With the digital gauges, I get alerted everytime it happens. I will check it with a...

Oil pressure down to zero when idling.

I'm seeking some help to troubleshoot my oil pressure problem. It's a reasonably fresh 383, Comp Cam (not sure which), stock oil pan, with maybe 2000 miles on it. I'm running a K&N filter and VR-1 10-40W oil. I have a Dakota Digital dash so any quick changes in oil pressure immediately shows on...

383 engine - oil capacity dilemma

I read online that the 383 with standard pan should take 6 quarts with a filter change. I emptied every last drop of oil from the motor, left it dripping for days without a filter, tilting the car front and back. I filled up 6 quarts, ran the motor and the dipstick was reading at least 1/4"...
