Speedometer pinion on different transmission not working

You lose about a quart of fluid. Take it off and look at the gear. If it is good and it is set right for the tooth count then the issue must be the cable.Turning the pinion assembly engages the gear because different tooth counts are different diameters and the gear is offset to adjust for the...

    Rear axle grease

The synthetic fluids that I have used are good for limited slip clutches, say so on the bottle. They also are fully compatible with other lubes.

    Why are hemi builds expensive?

Probably because for every hemi there are 100 440's being built. Availability of parts is the only logical explanation. Just the block and heads will set you back as much as an entire 440 build.

    Hughes whiplash questions

I dont think a cam is a rev limiter. I would think ignition, fuel delivery, or weak valve springs.

    318 to 383/440 swap and K member

The k frame will work fine, all you need are the metal mounts that bolt to the engine. They are around 150 bucks from Mancini Racing. You will most likely find the limits of that rear end fairly quickly, so plan on an 8 3/4 upgrade soon.

    Starting car after 14 years.

I always used a screwdriver and a hammer to remove the front seal, and a socket that is the size of the outermost part of seal to drive back in. But i suppose actual tools that are made for the job cost very little at harbor freight.

340 Charger will not stay running!!! please help!!

With the edelbrock carb the rods will pop up if vacuum is weak. Loosen the retainers and swing them out to just hold them in. If they are fluttering or staying up you might try a weaker spring. Also if you push them down and it runs you know you have a vacuum problem. A Cam that is too big to...

    408 Stroker... Kit and Heads

I have edelbrock performer rpms on mine (LA 360). They are better out of the box than any factory head and only get better with porting. Also you can use all the stock rocker arms and pushrods. If you use aluminum heads of any sort, you need to go 1 point higher in your compression due to the...

Building a highly efficient engine (mpg)

I would think a 289 in the Ranchero would almost be there already. A mildly built engine with overdrive and good gears would definitely get you to 25 highway mpg or better. Our old 318 in a 1973 satellite sebring plus got 20 highway with no overdrive and 323 gears.

    10 1/4 Sterlings...

If you are wondering about the strength of a Sterling, I have had one for 20 years. Mine is the 10.25 in 3.73. I have a 1997 f250 powerstroke with 240000 miles of hard pulling of campers , horse trailers , boats, cars and others I don't remember. It still is tight and will probably go to a...

Well, I've had enough of this 440 Mystery Motor

That sucks! Wish you were closer I'd work on it for you. Have you thought about a roller cam? There might be some underlying problem, or maybe just bad luck in metallurgy.
