1968 Dodge A100 pick-up

Slightly resto-modded 1968 Dodge A100 pick-up truck.

About this Mopar:

Year
1968
Make
Dodge
Model
A100 Pick-up
This pick-up started out as a delivery vehicle. Not sure of it's original history, but it obviously hauled around some heavy loads that were never secured properly. Lots of dings and bruises in the bed and on the tailgate made for many hours of hammering. The tailgate was so bad I decided we cut it out and temporarily replace with a flat panel, and apply decals instead of the traditional stamped rear end saying "DODGE". I guess I have a nice piece of patina wall-art now.

I bought the truck from a guy in Arkansas via on online Trader magazine. My buddy and I had been searching for months, and we nearly ended up going to the States and buying a Travco Camper with the intention of hacking the back-end off. Luckily we didn't, so we waited for the right vehicle to show up. Truck was transported to Los Angeles, and then on a ship to New Zealand back in 2009. As fate would have it, the same 40-ft container also had another friend's truck inside - a 1978 pick-up.......pictures later of them beside each other.

The restoration back in early 2010 took less than 90 days.....it was intense. I had already ordered many new parts to arrive about the same time, so stuff happened fast. So fast that we didn't have tiome for carpet, and the rear gears were the only set I had available.... 4.10:1 Made for a very noisy trip to the Beach Hop show where the truck was to be debuted. It was one of the closest guarded secrets of the year. Only about a dozen people knew about the truck....and they all pitched in along the way. I'll let the photos do some talking for now. Needless to say, it was a big hit at the time....and a novelty being one of only five in New Zealand - and the only '68.
