Old Bird

1st classic MOPAR inherited due to my "mechanical nature & attention to detail". Love hate relationship depending on the stubborn nature of the gremlin being chased at the moment but I love cars and learning...even after a year with this ole bird.

About this Mopar:

Dad's 3rd love. Mom, Huey's and this 1969 RR. It came with a trunk of trophies from his local shows up in Indiana. Born as 383 auto now a 4 speed 440 car. 71 block. Recent rebuild. B5 blue has had some pretty bad resprays so... she's blue. Felt some bubbling under the vinyl top so I got rid of the rust at bottoms of front and rear glass which brought me to tear out the interior and doing my best to prioritize the needs/vs wants without waste. Interior appearance is coming along with nothing crazy. Did the retro sound unit to keep the look of factory. Went back to black with the seats in lieu of the black/blue centers and red piping someone loved enough to pay to have done. Shaved the go wing. Cleaned more stickers and decals off this thing than came on a new Ram truck. Not sure on what I'll go back with but likely less is more. Suspension and brakes is coming next with plans to add discs and wheels to top it off. Never saw the logic in having 400 plus ponies with no booster on drum brakes. Lost the 13" steering wheel day 2. Without power steering...well, you know. So power steering is definitely on the list. South Texas requires a/c period so I'd like to add that also but it's last vs ride/handling and dependability. Definitely need to attack the electrical system. It's a gamble if I will have dash lights after dark. May be the dimmer but read about solid wiring through firewall and loosing a ton of connections and weak points. I might look for a rebuild set of gauges or try the Dakota digital option. I like meld of old the and new to increase drivability overall and have seen several on here that went that direction and I may seek guidance from. I need to research loosing the tilt out rear windows and add cranks to those for the open air and not having to reach those latches. Tilt column. All power windows is the plan. So much work but Cheers to the new adventure! The helmet rides with me to honor him and those that gave me the freedoms I enjoy.

It Looks really good to me. It is an honor to have such a treasure handed down. Know you will do the best. Just to say I got a classic air to go into mine. The glove box dose not have to be cut down. Wish you the best with the project. Love the helmet also.
