Have a late 40s early 50 dodge with a flat head ,6 and manual transmission.
My problem is it will lock into a gear. Seems only when trying for reverse. Pulled the top off and noticed the lever portion was out of the slots in forks. Like they were sloppy and moving to far. removed the shift forks. Little slop but not too bad. Anyway I welded them up and ground down to fit tighter. Hasn't seem to help. The bottom of the shift lever don't appear to be warn much. I see that their is a nut on each side at bottom of lever. Like to adjust left to right. Not real sure how to explain it.
Hopefully someone on here has experience with these old boxes. It's just a parade vehicle.

Do you know what kind of manual trans you have. If I remember right through the late fourties to early 50's they used a Manual Transmission called a fluid drive. The adjustments maybe different on those than a regular manual transmission.
