1948 Chevrolet 3100 / GMC 100

$22,900 OBO - There is a link below with 90+ pcitures.

Please read all of this prior to contacting me.

A little about me. I’m a car guy. I love old cars and trucks. I buy them, I drive them, I sell them and the cycle starts over. Not a dealer, just a schmuck who would likes old rides. I am and will be 100% genuine as will the description.

For Sale- is a very original and nice 1948 GMC 100 award winning and show condition. Let me first start by saying that I realize that the badges say 3100 which is Chevy and that GMC’s version is the 100. 5 Years ago when the restoration was being complete there wasn’t aftermarket badges for a GMC 100, just 3100 which has the same pins. However the truck comes with the original 100 badging in the glove box, which need re-chromed. Same thing goes for the hubcaps. There was very little customizing done to this truck. Now onto the description.

There was $16500 spent just in parts, on the restoration of this truck. That does not include ANY labor on anything. It is estimated that with labor of mechanical, body and assembly, that there was $35k spent on bringing this truck to its current show condition. The truck was completely disassembled sandblasted, frame off, nut and bolt restoration. All hardware is stainless steel with exception to some of the undercarriage bolts. Over 90 pictures capture the quality of the restoration. The truck has been driven about 1500 miles since the restoration was finished 5 years ago. The truck was driver on and off a farm lane, hence the bottom being a little dirty. The truck starts, runs, drives straight as an arrow and stops on a dime.

Exterior – The body is laser straight. Not a ripple or ding to be found anywhere. All body gaps are near perfect and all of the trucks skins are smooth as a baby’s rear-end. All of the chrome is in great shape. Much of the stainless steel is original and has a very minor ding here and there maybe 2 or 3. The rear tail lights have started to pit a little. The grill shows very nice but could use a little polish. All door rubbers, truck rubbers, running board rubbers or gaskets are all new. The tail gate is bolted shut, but can be unbolted by removing 2 bolts and about 45 seconds should you wish to drop it. The builder did not want chains beating around the tail- gate. The bed is even laser straight. No dings, new oak flooring, all stainless steel hard ware. It shows very nice. All cowl vents, side vent, windows, doors, hood open and close as they should. The driver’s door does stick a bit when opening it from the inside and a little shoulder bump opens it up. I’m certain that the catch or release needs adjusted and is minor. It opens fine from the exterior. All glass is flawless and is tinted. Looks at the door jambs, this is a tell tale sign of the quality of the body work, prep and paint on this truck. Paint - House of Colors Candy Apple red and Slight metallic silver with custom pin stripping by the infamous East Coaster Jerry Campbell – The paint is near perfect.

Driveline – The truck sports its original straight 6. It’s been completely rebuilt. Runs great. It can be a little cold natured for the first 2 minutes. Starts right up. No smoke. Minor oil leak about the size of a half dollar when sitting. It might be the oil pan or the crank case vent tube. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volt with every wire being replaced. The transmission is a manual 3 speed with electronic overdrive. This is not the original transmission. There is a “free wheel” lever on the floor you pull, and then flip a toggle under the dash for it to go into overdrive. It cruises nice at 55 mph. The rear end does not appear to be original to me. The truck does not have heat. All lights work.

The truck comes with its original 3 speed trans.

Suspension – Shocks replaced, leaf springs re-arched bushings replaced. It drives like a truck. If you’re looking for a smooth Escalade type ride, this isn’t the truck for you. It doesn’t beat you to death but its an old truck. No custom mods done to the suspension. All original.

Interior – The interior speaks for itself. It’s in very good shape all re-done to look new. There are a few small items which could use tightened up and I don’t mean with a screw driver. These are minor issues, you could complete in an hour or two. The stainless trim on the interior of the door around the windows, need to have 4 holes drilled into the door and trim screwed to door. Holes are in the trim. There appears to be a stainless trim piece that mounts above the windshield on the interior which is missing. It should catch the headliner and hold the leading edge up. The trim piece is missing and the leading edge of the headliner is bowed down a little. And lastly, interior door panels were flat when installed. They have since bowed some. They could use 4 more stainless screws and recessed washers to make them lay flat. The lighter is missing and could probably just be filled the hole with a generic stainless or chrome plug. That’s it. All minor things you could tighten up in a few hours. Other then thse few little items, the trucks interior is spectacular. Interior light and wipers work. All gauges appear to work, however the fuel gauge does not. Personally I would mount a set of after market, temp, oil pressure etc gauges beneath the dash.
