I am a bit confused about the choices for a beefed up 727 with a reverse valve body running behind a 550 hp 440. I dont know much about this tranny but I assume its late 60's maybe came with the car not really sure. I just see a varity of fluids and not sure whaich is the best performing fluid for this. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks This is a drag race car only.

You will get a bunch of opinions on this subject but I always run Type F in my classic auto trannys. This provides a firmer shift than Dexron. Just my 2 cents worth.

Well I ended up with at4+4. Lots of thoughts on this application.

1968 I assume you meant & not 1958...
Chrysler Type 4 Redline Oils Full Synthetic Transmission Fluid has served me pretty well in my racecars & Royal purple full synthetic Chry. 4+ in my street cars only because it's allot cheaper, than the Redline is
B&M Trick shift use to work pretty well for racing also,
it has an anti foaming agent, just like the other 2 do, but is cheaper

why's this in the welcome wagon ??

Cool, another NorCal guy!

I had a well respected tranny guy in San Jose, who was around when B&M created Trick Shift and saw all the 4 ball wear test reports, tell me he wouldn't put type F in anything, including the Ford tranny. Or anything that he wanted to have live for a long time. He's a big fan of the Trick Shift.

I spoke with a tech from B&M and he said he would run it with there valve body but does not recommend it for others>>>> Go figure.

Back when I was bracket racing on weekends I ran Trick Shift exclusively on the track and on the street and never had an issue. I'm not sure that the formula is the same now, but I still use it.

Well I worked at a Dodge dealer for over 24 years and I did trans work so I had a pretty good stash of the Mopar ATF all the way to the ATF+4. I have used the ATF+4 in my 63 's trans and my sons Dart for years and years and never had any problems at all. I get the fluid free so I use it and its worked great for me. As said many racers use the type-F also and are happy also. All I can say is the Mopar ATF+4 has worked great for me , my son and my brother. Ron

That is what I use and I am happy with it.
