1966 poly 318 oil capacity

Confused on poly 318 oil capacity, internet says 6 quarts with filter, downloaded original manual says 5 with filter. i am at 5 and it already seems to show a little over full on dipstick, stock oil pan and wix 51515 filter. Any info will help. Thanks

I would run it with the 5 for a short time and check again. Go from there. It will let you know how much oil it will be happy with. Just don't over fill.

5 with filter is full. Record where that 5 qts shows on the stick you have so you know.
