Dumb newbie question... is there a standardized color the engine block and heads should be for a 1967 Coronet R/T with 440/375hp engine? Does this look "legit"?

That looks like a nice car from what I can see! Are you considering buying it? What model is it? Definitely looks like a 375 horse 440 from 1967. I had a Coronet R/T once, and that was a great car.
 
Yep, color, PS pump, air cleaner and valve covers all look legit.

That's a valuable car! Especially if it is all original with out having been restored. Restored is ok, but not as valuable as original untouched in like new condition. Good luck.

Good point but: That old adage "you snooze you lose" CAN be a factor in play here"
Tell the individual your are interested in the car, you will NOT flip it and that you will pay him his "Fair Market price"
 
Update 4/8/15: I talked to the dealer who's got the car on display. (He has it on consignment.) He tells me the guy will accept my offer, but he's also telling me that some of my questions on the paint actually are there and not poor photography. Trouble spots seem to be limited to just the hood and trunk lid. (The photo below is a screen-grab of trunk. I cannot see anything on hood, but he says there's a similar problem there.) Have any of you ever used a 3rd. party Classic/Collector Car Appraisal Company for these situations? Are they trustworthy? Any recommendations?

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T. 440c.i./375h.p. Magnum V-8 - PS, Drum brakes, A/C, Sure-grip rear, Rally suspension, 3 spd. Torqueflite automatic on console, bucket seats, road wheels and vinyl roof. It's not original paint and there seem to be some issues with the paint as mentioned above, but the VIN tells me it's a true R/T. What's a car like this worth? I really like the car, but don't want to get ripped off!

The color concern means little .and, getting an appraiser sounds good, but very few are knowledgable about a Mopar. They take your money, but you get little in return. The price value is secondary, and the originality is everything. Find someone here that is close there locally that knows that car. Pay him to look at the car, and move on. When I sell a car, unless that appraiser knows more than me, he doesn't touch the car. I guess I'm rude and hard headed, but that is the way it is.
 
What I have seen the car looks clean and right, but ultimately the value is whatever you are willing to pay. I would think $20, 000 to $25, 000 is in the ball park. Just my opinion since I own one although not as stock as that one.

Did you make the offer subject to an Inspection? No money until that is done, if it were me. Mechanical and numbers wise.

In answer to both Dano and yourself (monaco66coupe) ... yes. I made my offer with the contingency of numbers matching, a 3rd. Party Inspection and Appraisal. I am waiting for an answer on the matching #'s part first, before I spend my hard earned ca$h on an appraisal. Consignment dealer said he'd get back to me tomorrow. I'm not sending any money to anyone until I get all of the answers I need. I even mentioned to the dealer today that I expect a renegotiation due to the paint defects that weren't mentioned before. He said they'd be willing to work with me.

All you can hope for is the month stamp on the engine pad to be prior to the build date, and the closer it is, the more likely it is Original. Also, make sure that transmission has the last three digits 541. Also, 974 being the last three on the driver exhaust manifold. That manifold is worth big bucks. The fender tag will also have the seq order number on it, as will the body. make sure they are the same. Mine does. Sorry, I'm a 67' GTX fan, and have lived with them since 1968.
