i have a 69 bee 4 speed car, with matching numbers engine, its all apart right now, i was going to go with a 383/440 magnum resto camshaft and a stock rebuild but want a cool mopar lumpity lump sound. what does everybody think stock hp build or no. thanks again :HappyNewYear:

I love the stock HP builds.............but I am a "DIE HARD RESTORATION" .................. Especially on numbers matching cars that are valuable.

If you have to replace the cam anyway, it will no longer be "original". A step above stock during your rebuild - why not! Just don't put in too big a stick unless you have the compression, intake and exhaust to back it up. Call Comp Cam's tech line and they can give you some good ideas based on the rest of your engine.

I think in the same direction as Gregs70. A few modern updated parts that are hid internally would be my preference. good luck on your engine.

The Magnum cam for a stocker is hard to beat. If you have the squeeze you might try the MoPar .455 lift cam, but probably not as good with stock manifolds. I think there are lots of choices for mild cams based on your compression ratio and car setup.

Headers or manifolds? Headers and a 383? Use the Hemi grind .474/280*
383 or 440 and MANIFOLDS? Use Bob's cam.

i found a new p4120235 mopar purple stripe camshaft package in the car (18 yrs old but never opened) 284/284/ duration, @ .050 241/241 , 68 olap, 108 centerline, .484/.484 lift cam do you guys think it too much with stock 10 to 1, compression , stock intake and manifolds and 4 speed manual trans

Too Much ? No, Not at at, It would work GREAT, I haven't checked the numbers but it sounds the the Resto cam by the numbers you gave.

The .484" is and old DC part and is listed as one step above the .474". I have seen a few of these cams turn an otherwise good running big block into a turd - and the reason I believe is lack of compression. This is more of a hot street cam with usable power well into the 6000 RPM range. Personally, I would not run it with a stock intake and exhaust.

Pretty much any time you run a "square" cam you need to use headers to get the most out of it.

thisis the cam that comp cam recomended for my 69 roadrunner that I wanted a build like you were looking for.

I'm am doing a mostly stock 383 build for my matching number 68 roadrunner. I am going to run Bob Karakashian's cam, Kieth black KB400 pistons, gasket matched 906 heads, ported stock intake maniford and exhaust manifods. I am hoping for 300 hp at the wheels and drive it anywhere.
