Working on repairing all the rust under the front windshield. Removed old windshield and all the silicone used to hold it in place. Exposed all the rust underneath and repaired all the metal by removing the rust and welding in some fabricated pieces. Now I need to put in clip studs and this is where my problem is.

I have gone through the threads and can find everything and then some on replacing the windshield, the height of the molding clips, etc etc. What I cannot find is the correct locations of the factory studs that the molding clips attach to.

If anyone knows the exact or proximate locations that would be great. I was able to duplicate the top ones because one side was still intact with no rust, but all the side studs as well as the front lower cowl studs were eaten out by rust.

Thanks for your assistance up front

Give me a day when I get light out side I'll go out to my storage garage and take pictures for you

Try here for the clips http://www.classicindustries.com/product/mopar/parts/mb1162.html. What I would do is take a piece of string and tie it to one of the studs that are still left. Then stretch it across the opening to the other side of frame. Put a piece of tape at that spot. Then measure the distance between two studs. Then measure from the piece of tape you used to mark the one area across from the good stud. Put another piece of tape in that location. Do this all the way around the frame. You now have it marked where the studs should go. Hope this make sense

Ok there's one in the center then 5" gap there's one to the left and right ,then 5" from the next left one there's another then 7" is another then 6" is the last one before the bend . No the farthest right .then 7",6",and 5" sp there's really no rime or reason it looks like ,I measured both cars I have here and it's all different size gaps.
As long as you have 9 all together sorry I couldn't get any pictures to work good luck

so there are no studs along the bottom of the window on the cowl area then? I removed the rear window because of rust and all the studs were there and running along the rear sill area.

makes perfect sense to me. I measured some of the studs and like Bb70charger500 stated, it seems like there is no rhyme or reason to gap differences. Thank you for the input and suggestion!

There would be none at the bottom as that's where the flat sill trim is that the windshield wipers park on and it uses screws to fasten it to the top of the cowl area. What there is, is the two hard rubber blocks which the glass rests on. I tried to find a reference in the Service manuals but nothing for windshield's or external trim.

ok, thank you for the response. Will see if I can find any hard rubber blocks to insert there for the windshield to rest on. Do you know the dimensions of the blocks? Maybe I could fab some blocks out of hard rubber.
