1972 Dodge Charger SE 440HP spark plug wire routing

So I finally got the thing fired up yesterday and now it is time to get everything buttoned up. I am missing a few plug wire holder doohickys and I am wondering if the enclosed pic is the proper one to get from classic industries?


MN2224 is the part # that contains the connectors/fasteners.

Also, as much as I search, I just can’t seem to nail down the correct routing??

The info. NO CAR2023 posted is what you need and the pictures of the engine afterwards is very good except your 72 should have electronic ignition which dictates Orange wires.

Were the original wires for a 73 & newer originally orange? I’ve been scratching my head trying to locate the correct wires for my 73 GTX. I’ve seen both black and orange with the correct part#.
 
Electronic ignition wires were Orange, I see some black reproductions but haven't a clue why.
I usually find "NOS" on E-bay with dates in the 80's or 90's.

Should the boots also be orange or were they black? They should be a Chrysler branded wire correct? Not like GM or AMC that used Packard wires. I've tried to find a good picture of an engine compartment from an original dealer advertisement, and I haven't found anything I could use as a good reference.
 
First we need to know what engine we are speaking of?? I can only tell you for sure that big blocks are Orange wires and spark plug boots but small blocks may not be.

1973 GTX 440. What year is the engine you posted 71? I have the original "45" sticker on my brake booster if you would like to compare to the reproductions. I have seen a couple different version reproduced but never one like my original, not sure if they changed thru the years is why I ask. Not trying to highjack the OP's thread
 
My engine is in my 1972 Satellite Sebring and that is the correct version. The later years used a larger one with red white and blue if I remember right. Is that what you're speaking of?

I was curious if the versions did change thru the years, I was unsure. My car has the original on it and I have never seen another restored car with it. I honestly never paid enough attention to remember other cars thru out the years but once I bought my 73 I started to pay closer attention. I've seen a few nicely restored 73's with the same version you have which I always assumed were incorrect based on my car, good to know the variances, thanks. Also to clarify on the plug wires, big block 72's (and probably 73's) would have orange wires and boots? If you could, I would like to see a picture of the maker marks on one of your wires. For some reason, I've been struggling to determine the correct assembly line wire for this car. Thanks again!!
 
Here is a picture of the NOS set I bought last week which actually has 1972 date so I couldn't pass on it.

Is this the sticker you have on your 73?? Years back I bought this sticker from YO because my version of "45" wasn't reproduced yet.
The big box stores like YO and Classic usually have close but no cigar when it comes to restoration pieces.

Good deal. That looks like what I will need. If you happen to see another set anywhere produced/dated late 1972 I would appreciate a shout out. I’ll start looking on eBay also. Thanks
