1973/1974 dodge charger se opera windows to quarter windows?

I was wondering if you can remove the opera windows and then make them into 1/4 windows? I saw some people on DC.com start removing them and then they started converting them into 1/4 windows but they havent posted any new pics. So I know it can be done but I just havent seen a 100% finished one! So have any of you done this or know of any one doing it? Its becoming hard for me to find anything but 73/74 Charger SE's so im just wondering because I really like the way a Rallye or a standard Charger looks! Not saying I dont like the opera windows but I still want to know if you can do it successfully.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have them too, and need new inserts or a mod...

Posted and replied to on several boards over the last 6 months. It can be done, not cheap and not easy. You have to get all of the parts from a hardtop, so why not just get a hardtop to begin with? It will probably take finding 2 or 3 parts cars to get all, good working parts. Patrick, I take it you already have a SE? IMO the money would be much better spent on other upgrades.

Just my opinion,but I always thought the opera windows were slick looking. My brother had a 72 or 73 without them & he always drooled on the S.E.s when he saw one.

not to sound like a "know-it-all" but the 72 SE had the opera windows.. the 73/74 SE had louvered windows. Opera windows are those that do not allow a person to see all the occupants, think of an opera house in the balconies.. you can see the legs of the people, but not their faces... whereas the louvered windows are exactly that.. just louvered.
