I used a cab mount for a freightliner. Cut it down a bit cause it was too big around. Drilled 4 holes in it. Pressed in some cut to right length 1/2 inch tubing in the holes. Bolted it in with the straps from the old one. Works great.

Well into year 4 with the drilled puck.

      I'm claiming 100% success.

Some people show thier cars and want original parts.... Some people want Nos or Good used and others are happy with Chinese stuff and JC Whitney restorations. Everyone does with thier car what they want & how they want..

What's your point in quoting my post, please?

            Your comment goes without saying.

YY1 is not debating the price of the joint itself just bringing up a testimonial of its experience along the time, which seems to be good specially for the price.

( dunno the mileage of his car by year thought LOL )

and I’m agree most will preffer the correct piece but prices don’t help, so maybe 75% of the ppl will run with the most accesible and easy solution for the same result.

if It was my case, pretty sure would try the Land Rover piece before the original piece due the prices of the original one. And my next bid would be the hockey puck. IMHO Anything over $40-60 for a rubber piece with metalic inserts like that is outrageous.

Now is at least available. Still expensive but available.

if was a more logical price, no matter if more expensive than the Land Rover piece ( but not by much ) sure I would sacrifice a bit of my pocket for it.

I.E. I dream for the repro K member isolator mounts setup, but pay $300 for molded rubber pieces set with some metalic bushings is a bit of too much having more affordable ( by much ) options ( Poly ).

You stated multiple times about a Hockey Puck being used instead of a factory part... Glad it worked for you but not everyone just wants to have "something" that works but something that is "correct" or something they can spend money on instead of thier time as there is always so much work in restoring/fixing these cars... Pick your battles..

It's an easy solution and ridiculously cheap for something that's a somewhat common problem with a not so easy to find or afford "factory correct" remedy.

Actually, unless you get right down on top of it, you don't even notice it's not the factory part.
It certainly looks more factory correct than the land rover part, or a fan spacer.

I'm posting that mine is holding up well, and noting the price mentioned for the repro part was almost 100 times what a puck costs.

You chose to specifically call me out for some reason, and "chose that battle", not me.

Not a battle I was referring to picking battles with a car but obviously that went over you head. It was just a statement if it upsets you that there are people who want the Original parts for thier car so be it... Again glad the hockey puck works and that your car is doing well with it.

            I'm about done with this.

certainly since the Land Rover piece is kinda squared, not round BUT, but also is made just like the original so it works more correctly like the original one ;)

The Land Rover biscuit is made the same as the factory piece, the only difference is the shape of the rubber and a small difference in thickness (which is not an issue given the ample travel of the factory plunge coupler). I think I paid around $20 for mine, and for a piece that is shrouded in a steel shield, I wouldn't be worried about the difference in the shape of the rubber segment.
