Hi Guys,

Posting for a friend. Need help please.

He has a 1973 Plymouth Roadrunner and needs taillight housings for both sides. All I’ve been able to find so far are complete units at $300 a piece but will pop for them if there’s no other alternative. Where is a good place just to source the housings?

Also, to remove the taillight units it’s necessary to tear up the center filler piece that runs across the rear bumper between the bumper and the body. His has been painted over but as far as I can tell it’s a strip of rubber below the trunk opening an inch or two in width.

I talked to a strip vender yesterday who also has a ’73 Road Runner. He said that some company made a batch of those strips a while back and they’re all gone with no plans to make any more. Then he told me the bumper must be removed to get the taillights out.

Does anyone have any solutions with regards to the strips?

Any help or advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Used is all you will find. I will probably have some used ones along with nos assemblies at Carlisle. Filler strips are all gone. Probably easier to remove the bumper as it's only 8 bolts and nuts along with the wiring. This way you won't crack the bumper filler. There are bolts on top and bottom of the tail light housing.

Are you looking for these?
If so I have the one in this photo you can have. They’re not in perfect condition but you might be able to make a good pair out of yours and the ones I have.

The bumper doesn’t need to come off to remove taillight housing. The bumper filler can be gently pushed out of the way if needed and doesn’t need to come off either.
