360 Charger, is there an 8 3/4 rear from another, older B that will swap? Have only seen the car via pics and the owner says there an 8 1/4 in it.
Yes a swap can be made. Search this site for a chart of 8 3/4" housing widths to see what is appropriate for your car.360 Charger, is there an 8 3/4 rear from another, older B that will swap? Have only seen the car via pics and the owner says there an 8 1/4 in it.
Maybe it's a 9-1/4"?
I don't think they would put an 8-1/4" in with a 360.
It it is, yes you are going to have to change it at some point.

my 77 SE 360 came with an 8 1/4. I put a 440 in front of it and hot rodded the hell out of it and it never failed. you'd be surprised how strong they are.
sure grips and gears are readily available for them
My 78 magnum 400 had an 8.25.. swapped it out for a 9.25.. and here in a local junk yard there is a 76 cordoba 360 with a 8.25.360 Charger, is there an 8 3/4 rear from another, older B that will swap? Have only seen the car via pics and the owner says there an 8 1/4 in it.
Yes, they did. Every day of the week. It is the standard rear for the small block in those years. There is no reason to change it out unless your building crazy power. The 8-1/4 is THEY most under rated rear bar none. It will take 450lbs. of torque all day long.Maybe it's a 9-1/4"?

my magnum 400 now has a O.D. 4 speed. Had to upgrade to a 9.25 with sure grip. And 3:21 gears. Beefy.360 Charger, is there an 8 3/4 rear from another, older B that will swap? Have only seen the car via pics and the owner says there an 8 1/4 in it.

It's sitting on a pair of used car lot ramps, which gets it about 3 feet off the ground. Paid $200 for the pair 10 years ago. Works fantastic! What sort of arrangement is your car setting upon?
