Comparison made in my driveway today after both vehicles had been stored in the carport for months without having been started:

The Cherokee has fuel injection and a conventional Duralast battery. I had to jump start it with my '96 Dakota. It took a lot of wiggling to get the jumper cables to finally make contact.

The Satellite has an NOS Carter two-barrel carb and a "red" Optima battery. I squirted some gasoline into the air horn and it fired right up and kept running.

Satellite stock 318 results after warm-up (perf. viscous drive fan)
Charging Voltage at idle (headlights off) 14.5 Volts
Charging Voltage at idle (headlights on) 12.5 Volts

Temperature at coolant sensor on intake manifold 190 - 195 degrees

Temperature on driver exhaust manifold (front to rear) 500, 600, 575
Temperature on pass exhaust manifold (front to rear) 580, 700, 600
Temperature at tailpipes (duals that dump in front of rear tires) 160
Temperature of valve covers (stock/metal) 170

*****

Cherokee stock 4.0 liter after warm up (stock fan)
Charging Voltage at idle (headlights off) 13.8 Volts
Charging Voltage at idle (headlights on) 13.7 Volts

Temperature at coolant sensor on intake manifold 205 - 210 degrees

Temperature on head pipe closest to exhaust manifold 550 degrees

Temperature at tailpipe (dumps at rear bumper) 140
Temperature of valve covers (appear to be plastic/composite) 175
