Thanks guys, good job Bobtile too... stuff came back my way, thought I was in trouble after a few guys ran & my P/S picks went to crap, then back to 2nd... J.Force was on the 1st 3 rd.s, S.Langdon looked good even thou got barely out run A.Brown, then D.Kallita took the #1 spot, from him... yea ha I hope they do as well in eliminations, that's mainly why I picked them drivers, but I wont be alone either... good luck everyone, so glad were back to racing again, even if I haven't been able to go...

I got some great news ol'Pops is doing much better, according to the cardiologist that was going to do the stints/surgery, he has to have a few more stress tests {padding the insurance billing I'm sure}, next month maybe !!, but maybe he might not have to have surgery now even, I've been taking his diet & health very seriously, he's 100% sober for the 1st time in 50 years, no alcohol for 2 months now {that's something}... I sure hope so, for his sake & a little selfishly for me, I'd like to do some traveling again, take in some races, west coast stuff at-least {just maybe}... I haven't been able to for years now... still just wish & hopes for now thou... sorry a little off topic :headbang:

2 of my qualifiers didn't fare so well, AJ was sleeping at the tree rd 2 & Langdon got out run rd 2, but John Force came thru with speed 324 mph & 3.95 et records IIRC, 1 for 3 after all was said & done... good to see MoPar/V. Gains win P/S & T/F Tony Schumacher go out early thou... new/old revamped venue in 2 weeks, Wild Horse Raceway, a few P/S teams did a test session their {formerly Firebird Chandler Az.}

Here are the results and point standings following completion of the Winternationals - the opening NHRA event of the 2014 season. And, contrary to some minority demand on FABO, we're going to score it just like all past years: the highest score at the end of the season is the winner.

Big names going down early had a major impact on the point totals this week.

Congratulations to new player 'bobtile' (FBBO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the Circle K Winternationals, the first event of 2014, with an outstanding point total of 132.0 points with class wins in Funny Car and Pro Stock. His Top Fuel pick qualified well but lost in the first round of eliminations. He was helped by event bonus points for both event ET and speed, as well as new National Records set for both ET and speed, by John Force in Funny Car.
'johnnycuda' (FABO) came in as the event runner-up with a very nice point total of 129.5.
Both 'bobtile' and 'johnnycuda' had the same picks in Funny Car and Pro Stock. They had different Top Fuel picks that both went out in the first round of eliminations. The difference in their event point totals was due to the difference in how their Top Fuel picks qualified.

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Doug Kalitta, 3.713 during qualifying
Speed - Doug Kalitta, 330.15 during the 2nd round of eliminations

Funny Car
E.T. - John Force, 3.965 during the Funny Car final in eliminations
Speed - John Force, 324.12 during qualifying
Both set new National Record marks.

Pro Stock
E.T. - Vincent Nobile, 6.510 during qualifying
Speed - Allen Johnson, 212.96 during qualifying
