Did Dodge put 3 speed floor shifts in the '64 440, or were all the non-Wedge 3-spds on the column?

I would think they had both??!! Just thinking out loud. The Max Wedge cars were floor shift three speeds.

Small block 3 speed manual cars were column shifted from 66 to 70. Floor shifter not available! 4 speed not available! (that's a big WTF IMO)

Not sure about 65 and down.

It was an option

Would the fender tag distinguish between 3spd floor and 3spd column?

The fender tag will have the trans code on it. I believe the only B bodies to use the T85 were the max wedge cars. There might have been a few 64 maxis with the T85, but most manual max wedge cars in 64 came with the A833.

But the tranny designation is just one digit (below is just an example; I know it's a torqueflite). Would this digit be different from a column to a floor shift manual?

The code would be the last digit of the codes in post #4. A 1 would be a62-64 three speed manual, column shift. A 4 in 1964 would be a T85 three speed floor shift.

Now that's just crazy enough to make sense. Thanks!

I read somewhere there were only two max wedge built with the T-85.

I bought a new 64 Dodge 330 in 64 with a 383 and a 3 speed. It was a column shift. The only floor shift was a 4 speed. That 3 speed was bullet proof. Never had any problems with it.
