318 camshaft question

Hello, everyone!

Decided to order intake kit for 318 engine.

- https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/cmb-03-0160

Each kit is with different camshaft. Which one is better for stock block?
Engine will be for daily drive.

Thanks!
The 03-0160 looks OK for mostly stock 318 and drivetain.
The 03-0162 is too much cam for a stock setup unless you use a higher stall converter around 3,000 rpm and change to 3.55:1 of more gearing

I agree the #160 kit would be better for a stock 318. It's pretty easy to over cam a stock Teen. Bigger cams need good heads, zero deck pistons, converters and gears to work. I see there is a breakdown of kit components. The cam is a Lunati 10200701LK. Not a bad cam for a stock 318.

Fratzog is dead nuts balls accurate on this.
I state this from the been there done that club. That smaller cam will be very good in there. I have used very similar (duration @.050) cams by Crane and Comp. The smaller cam is what you want.
Thats a Voodoo profile, 213/220,256/262. Had it in a 8:1 360. good street/cruiser cam.

And I bet it was excellent....

An old FABO member had a Crane 272/284-216/228@050 cam in his 360 Duster, race only car. He ran low 12's.
Obviously he took advantage of a gutted car. He also took advantage of good thinking and parts when he built his engine.
