I have a `70 A66 Challenger (340 Perf Package) that was built in November of `69 and my block has a casting date of July 9th `69. 340 was available from the beginning of the model year in the E-bodies allthough it was a late announcement for the Dodge camp.
FW- is the assembly plant
340 = is the cubic inch
P = is premium fuel
2995 = assembled OCT 9th 1970
Do you mean July of 68? If it is the original engine that would make sense not 1969.
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't a motor built July of 68 be a 69 motor and a motor built July of 69 be a 70 motor? So if this is the case then a July of 69 340 would be correct for a 70 car built in November of 69 which would be the 70 model year.
I'm surprised no one caught the typo in Matt's post.
F= Assembled for installation in a 1970 model year car
W = Windsor engine assembly plant
10K date of 2995 would be Oct. 9th of 1969
