can a 383 intake be used on a 440 with spacer plates?
they are easy to make with a waterjet machine, just wondered if bolt alignment remained the same, we do that in the 392 Hemis when using 354 heads- a 3/8 spacer is used. . you may be right, I have a perfect 383/400 2 x 4 bbl manifold and am switching from the 383 I was going to use to a 413.thanks for the responseYes. I don’t know where you can find them but I’m sure someone here knows.
On the flip side, I bet you could trade or sell what you have quicker for the proper part.
thanks I knew bolt alignment front to rear was the,I same wondered if angled changed with spacers. now I'll have to find the correct thickness for spacers, thinking 3/8" for some reason. thanks for the help, 'I dont have a water jet- a friend with a machine shop close by does, he's been very nice in doing my work. if I had a waterjet I'd have enough$$ to pay someone else to do this work.Ah! You have a water jet. Sweet. Then making a set from the gasket? Would work.
Yes! Bolt alignment is the same. The block heights are the only difference which ment the factory needed to make a different width intake. But all the heads are the same.
You can swap heads from engine to engine and they will all bolt on and work except for the valve sizes which could be a problem! LOL!
Cool man! Sorry I can’t help further. I just don’t know about the spacers. I have seen them but never held one much less take a mic to it.
Would you revisit this post with what you end up with so I know about them and what you did and what was needed?
I wonder if there available new?
