Like a little help from someone
I have a motor in a 1970 superbee. In it is not a matching motor. But what do I have. Raised letter on the block side top above raised letters D 4. Under that C97623. Stamp on block. 8G2736 then a small o. Also PP8332203. 0034. On front pad F440.

F440 = 70

Did you get the number from the passenger side just above the oil pan in the stamp pad area?

Does it only say F440 on the pad up front?

There are raised numbers on the block that should be 2536430 This is the block casting number 66/72 440

0034 may indicate that it was the 34th engine assembled that day.

8G2736 looks like part of a VIN number. Is this on the back of the block by the oil sending unit? If yes, then the engine is out of a 68 B body assembled at St, Louis. Possibilities include a Charger or Coronet R/T or a GTX.

PP8332203 is the stamping on a four speed transmission. The numbers 2203 indicate the date of assembly in 10,000 day calendar form and equate to August 9th, 1967.

So based on what you've posted, it appears the engine and transmission are from 1968 model year cars.

But F440 indicates a 1970 model year assembly.

Pictures of the stampings will help us give better answers.

Probably a 1968 engine that someone restamped as F440 to make it look like the correct engine for your car. Look at the casting date on the side of the block.

It would look like this This one is 6/28/73
Casting number is 3698830-440-6 The 6 does not mean its a 6 pack... I'm pretty sure its the 6th revision of the casting. Don't quote me on that I can be wrong.
The clock with an arrow indicates if it was day or night shift on the casting.

This is a front stamp pad area picture.. Not sure if all had more information but this gives you year and date of the assembly. Also the sideways C's are as posted above.

Assuming they started this in 1969 the vin would have been above the oilpan rail on the passenger side. If this pad is not there then its an earlier block as they stated above.

The block is correct 66 to 72 so that’s correct and since it has the vin stamped just above the pan on the passenger side check that with the rest of the car to see if the vin is correct.

0C220961 tells us the engine is from a 1970 (0) Chrysler or Imperial (C plant. They only built Chryslers and Imperials)

this goes with the F on the front pad.

I have a 440 that came out of a what I thought was a 70 Chrysler but it has a 9Cxxxxxx on the pan rail and an E on the front pad. Cool thing about it is that it's still a standard bore. Imo, the land barge engines had an easy life for the most part....
