I have a 440 that I bought in Little Rock and drove to Fort Worth and then home in southeastern NC. I ran 3000 RPM and 70 MPH all the way and only used 2 quarts of oil. For some unknown reason, the engine has started leaking oil at the rear. I had the pan pulled and the rear main seal replaced. The mechanic said the old seal he removed looked good and had black silicone on it. It lasted about 15 miles before it let go again. My engine runs 70-80 lbs at idle or at 60 mph and I've never had an engine with that much oil pressure. Has anyone had the cam or lifter galley plugs leak? I am thinking about putting in a new oil pump with lower pressure. Does anyone have any answers or thoughts on this problem? It's starting to be expensive and a really big problem. I cant understand why this just happened with no previous problems. Thanks for any help.

Oil persure in it's self will not cause a rear oil seal leak. If it is still leaking at the rear seal I would start by checking the main bearing clearence. If the seal was put in correctly and the crank shaft surface the seal rides on is good something is distorting the seal causing it to leak. Anyway that would be my theory.

Oil leaks seem to come from somewhere, nowhere, and everywhere. Had one that turned out to be the rear of the valley pan. Replaced with new pan and FelPro gaskets. Dry now. First thought dipstick, the rear main. Neither.
Next step dye in the oil to confirm source?

You can adjust the oil pressure if you go with an adjustable one. Mopars prefer lower oil pressure. Also you can use baby powder to find oil leaks.
60 psi is good oil pressure vs 80 psi.

I agree with UWSS
80 psi is high in my opinion.
The oil pump has a spring in it, underneath the big bolt head.
That is where you can adjust the pressure.

Make sure your valve cover breathers are working too much back pressure will make it leak from a pin hole anywhere. Check valve covers and valley pan most common causes I have seen on mine. Also over tighten oil pan bolts are a cause too if the pan bolt holes are dimpled I would replace the pan.
