http://store.440source.com/images/logo.jpg GREAT PLACE FOR LEARNING AND PARTS SOURCE! 400 MOTOR SEEMS THE WAY TO GO FOR MANY REASON I FOUND.....
Here we go...
DAD Working with Chinese Crap at Ford plnt 1966....FACT! AT ANY RATE, I liked the information they had, better than most, and talked to them about there CHINESE CRAP B BODY SITE SAID YOU SELL. They had no problem returning Chinese Crap With full refund being they have none!Probably got a tax break by moving there....and Summit also offers free shipping on orders of 99 and higher....Lmao, yep here we go...
You just have to be very selective on what you buy, who would have known that a bronze distrb. gear I got from them would have stripped? I know I have a few of their parts and out of all of them the only thing I thought was cheap was the $99 distributor which is sitting on my 383 now, and the flat valley pan which just leaked all the time no matter how I sealed it.
Water pump and housing still working, heads still working for china cast junk. lol pulleys still working, bunch of other small stuff. Just be selective. and do your homework! Don't be like me and learn the hard way 2-3 times before getting it right.
I also see they moved to Nevada, and offer free shipping on items $99 and up. looks like a good move. I think their main thing is stroker kits and all the knowledge base they have about them. I didn't get my 493 kit there but didn't even see it till after.
Threads like these still bring out good info!I use their 4.15 stroker kit in my 440 for 493 cubes. I used the D-dish pistons for 10.6 comp with my Indy EZ heads. But its the Source bottom end (crank , pistons , rods and bearings) and its been holding up fine. I built the eng in 2011 and had it in the car running since June 2011 with many street miles and some passes down the track. The parts I checked were all within specs that I had no problem using everything in the stroker kit. Bottom end set up fine and has been running great. I also know a few guys who use their Stealth heads and they are all still running fine. Brandon who runs 440Source is a nice guy and was easy to deal with. We all have budgets and have to work within them. I do all my own eng work other then I cant port heads anymore with my bad back and I have no issue with their parts I used. Ron
Worked in a steel mill from 73 through 78 and started working in a machine shop in 79. Japan flooded our steel market with subsidized finished steel products but forgings from them machined very nicely. I quit ARMCO because of the flooding and got tired of getting laid off plus the writing on the wall was getting easier to read.View attachment 216072DAD Working with Chinese Crap at Ford plnt 1966....FACT! I liked the fact they Guide you through the Steps for a Build if knowlage is problem.
I mite add that taking your own AMERICAN MADE PARTS, you can machine to there Specs they offer on site.
$700.00 plus for a Crank is pricey, but I do my own locally as a Machinist/ yet they have a vast understanding of MOPAR over me..
Steel in the late 60's and up to 75 came from China and was used ford/Mopar bodies, engines, and Shipped to Ford rouge plnt/ sold to Chrylers. "SLAG".
I RETIRED FROM CHRYLERS as a machinist/concept car builder 1964-1996. As a Lathe Operator I found my share of SLAG trust me....
Go to the Source for real info/facts..
good ole American Steel goin to Rouge plnt for processing via JAPAN...
DADS ID..Sorry, just prefer to not feed the monster (tech steeling, trade agreement bashing, communist, trash building, anti American, thieves) and support our own. O.K I'll keep to myself now.
