when did thay change the spline count on the input shaft on the 727?

Why make this difficult?
He asked specifically about a 1962 727

so why do we need to bring in 904’s and lockups?

For the 727 trans 1962 to the end of 1966 used the 19 spline converter.
ok.. cool. my 62 (i should have said that in the first line) still has the trans in it but no converter. i have 2 core 68 RR 727's laying around. should be able to swap out the drum and input ...

Yes you can swap those parts from a 68. Need the reaction shaft also. Different bore inside for the input shaft. get new sealing rings for 1967 and up.
