63 Polara console top refinishing

So with the onset of winter in the frozen tundra I get bored and start looking for things to do. Well, the top of my center console after 50 years is looking kinda old and worn. It is the grooved lid that I'm talking about. Has anyone tried to refinish this by taking a soft wire wheel to it or some other method. Thanks!

Hey eric383 does your console look like this?I believe it is anodized and using a wire wheel would not be the right thing to do.

E, I bet their is a way to polish it. like the aluminium or aluminum on the exterior trim (polish and wheel)...I think? if you need a second opinion call me I'll take a look. Sonny

Yes, that is the console. I stripped the anodizing off my grill and then polished it. I figured I might be able to do the same thing with the console. I have also used the Dupli Color chrome spray paint on other projects and considered it an option for the console lid also. The Dupli Color has the look of polished aluminum as far as the sheen. It is not as shiny as chrome.
