65 coronet carpet question

Installing the carpet in my 65 coronet. Where the throttle bolts to the firewall. I think i need to trim around where it bolts up? Or do I slip it under where it bolts to the firewall?
Picture would also help.
I'm learning. I have A body experience 1st B for me.
