Hi Team, Well, today was the first day that we took out the car for a "real" drive. Put 10 gallons of gas in her and it leaks out the Grommet on the Filler tube. So, researched the site and see there are problems with some grommets. Ordered a new one from DMT and await that to arrive.

So question, do I have to remove the tank to change out the grommet? If the tank can stay in for the change, any tricks you all recommend? Best to you all. B.

You don't have to remove the tank. I replaced my grommet with tank in place. Make sure the fill tube is not distorted at the tank end. Clean it till it's smooth, apply a little dish soap to make it slide in.

You will have to remove the elbow hose too. Make sure it's in good condition and if it has original clamps, you will need to replace them.

i ended up chickening out on my 66 Coronet fuel tank grommet setup an did some welding to eliminate it after a fill-up fuel gush experience
