I've been doing some research trying to find out if 66 Coronets came from the factory with the middle of the grill painted black.

Some of the original color ads & brochures I've seen shows this, but cars I've seen on here & in person, including mine, are all chromed (anodized) except for the very top portion.

The ads and brochures don't really show the detail.

I kinda like the blacked out idea, but would like to see if anyone on here has the center of the grill blacked out.

Don't want to paint it, & then not like it.

Pics please.......

Each trim line was different. The 500, 440, etc. have different schemes. The factory advertising usually shows this accurately.

Yep.

500 black in center section of each half, but not completely- see photos.

440 and below- not.

My car is a Coronet 500. The grille was blacked out b4 I restored it so I kept it black. You can see in the pic that the two lines in the middle of the grille were left chrome. IDK if thats how it was done but I Kinda like the look.

I've decided to paint mine like the 500 car.
I'll post pics when I'm finished.....

Well, I finished painting the grill and I like it a whole lot better than the all chrome look.....

Grill was a PIA to get out though.......

Very nice! Side by side I think I like the 500 model black out the best.
