66 Satellite Hood ornament bolt and locator hole spacing?

I have bought a few hood ornaments for my 66 Satellite but none of them work. The spacing for the holes on the hood is 3/4" the ornaments I have are spaced something less for the bolt and locator pin. I'm hoping someone can tell me which is correct. I don't believe the hood was changed but I guess it is possible. Thanks for the help, Mark

From a 67 fits right on a 66.

I assume you have the small base piece for the ornament? Look at Don's ornament.

and Im not 100% sure mine has the original hood ( if they happen to be different )

BUT, mine had a 66 ornament on it. but wrong style. So I bought a repop 67 ornament off ebay and the base for it was smaller then the one on my car and wouldnt fit the hole spacing on my hood
So I just reused my base ( which was nos ) with the repop ornament.

I cant get to mine until this weekend but if happens to be spaced right for your car. its yours. I can dig it out and measure it this weekend. Got plans for today and the car is buried at the moment anyway

Ok,
the repop base I have was close. so dug it out and it looks like its the same spacing as the one you have. and thats the same issue I had when I tried to put it on my hood. So i reused my original base

Also,,,,, I just remembered the base doesnt fit the crown in my hood right anyway .

So it sounds like I just need an original base.

Think bases 66 to 67 are different? 66 is 2579849, 67 had trouble finding didn't say base not sure if either number is correct.2785388 or 2785761?

My car doesnt have any kind of gasket ....but its been restored so I have no idea if its supposed to or not.

Some of the repop ornaments avail do show a gasket, so maybe there is

There is also an NOS 66 for a 383 car as well. Not mine btw.
I will add my 2 cents here. I personally dont think the NOS one is worth 220, And its been for sale for a while now. So maybe not ,,,or the right guy that needs it,,,,,just hasnt found it yet.

But I did buy an nos 426 one for my car this past spring and I paid considerably more than that for it
