Has anyone used HP 440 manifolds on a 75-79 B-body ? I am considering a set of these reproductions for my 77
I don't see why they won't work. It sure looks like the exits are just about the same as the stock manifolds, that's usually the important part. It is possible that the drivers side might get closer to the brake master cylinder than original but if you put in a 79 style (it's smaller) you'd be fine for sure.
Recommend installing a late model mini-starter. Its about 1/2 the size of the original unit. I'm also planning to install a 69 set on a 75 Cordoba. Do not anticipate a problem because the 75 400 model k-frame and drive line are the same as a 73/74 big block b body. Several members have original 69 type manifolds for sale at about $400. Just do a search for big block exhaust manifolds. A found a pair a year ago and again about 6 months ago.
I assume you have a stock single exhaust system. Are you planning to install 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 dual exhaust system to the bumper? You know your gas tank will not support a dual exhaust system. For duals you need a smaller gas tank. One from a 74 will fit. Rock Auto has the best prices, also you may need differ hangers to mount the tank. X-pipe or cross-over exhaust will also fit your Cordoba. I have a 3" x-pipe exhaust in my 75 Cordoba with side exhaust. Planning to replace the fuel cell and run it out the rear.
Duals can be easily installed in a non-dual car. There is not as much room on the one side of the tank, so the pipes can be directly under the frame rails on both sides. I have duals on 3 cars that came from the factory with single exhaust, works and looks fine. I have 2 1/2 on my Fury and that's way too big. Makes for some tight clearances and might be on the edge of harming exhaust scavenging, don't forget it's only 4 cylinders going through that one pipe.
Thank you that is good info. I will do a gas tank conversion first just to make things easier. Looks like that small tank is pretty easy to get new
I have not moved on this yet. I have been working on others things. Going to be big $$$ . not only do i have to get manifolds but many other parts. the manifolds, tti exhaust system $$,smaller gas tank conversion.
I had a good long conversation with TTI yesterday. Long story short. I am about to talk myself into buying full size headers. I called to ask about the shorties but they told me if you have a short deck motor you would have to run that super high dollar mini starter that someone makes. They recommended the 1 7/8 full length for a short deck b body.
my buddy had those manifolds on his Cordoba with a 400 worked perfect also the exhaust shop ran tail pipes out to the bumper with a stock gas tank looks good
