68 Charger junk yard save!

What is everyone's opinion on if he just did a quarter skin?, like I did. And even then cut the skin down to only replace damage, leaving as much undamaged as reasonably possible.
Oh, and like everyones is saying, you have a gem there. Wish mine started that nice.

You can try to save as much original metal as you can. In the pictures it looks like the damage affected the flat surface curvature on the quarter. That may or may not be workable and involves some good body skills.

I have used skins for years before the full quarters came out and have nothing against them. The full quarters are ideal in some situations but are not an easy install due to the added work involved. Mainly in the package tray and tail panel area....

That is what I meant...just the outer skin as needed. Not an easy job but nowhere near as difficult as a full quarter all the way into the soldered C pillar joint.

No, that is fine...I was just thinking aloud again...
Mine could have been called a Barn Find but I have REALLY grown tired of hearing people use that term!

Awesome story on an awesome car!! Take your time and do it right

Well today I did my first official long distance parts run. Picked up a right fender that was very clean and very good dent and fairly rust free complete driver door. For the first time in 35 years I can say with certainty.......the body is complete. Pics to follow. Been a long day.

Congrats! Good score

Found my fender tag today in one of the many boxes. Fire away with the decoding. I used an online decoder and it had several unknown options. The most distressing news was it had a black top not a white one as I remembered it. Argh oh well white it is!!!! Lol

It was free because it had been butchered right in the middle left of the pics. Notice where someone cut some of the support metal out right behind where the latch goes. I think someone did and engine or accessory mod at some point and it hit the hood....so make some clearance room right!!!! Jackass! (My speculation all.) No reflection on the the guy i got it from either. He didnt do it!

The guy who had it didn't want to sell it because of this butcher tactic. I asked what he was gonna do with it. He said "toss it." I told him "toss it in my truck." I brought it home.

December 20th build date. Santa must have ordered it for some good little boy or girl!

I ran across this on eBay. Crazy thing is I would have been about a year old when printed. Ive Never seen this before but I've always loved 68 Chargers, I literally cut my first teeth on the passenger side dash pad on my parents 68. I married a very hot black haired nurse. This explaines a lot. Freaky!!!

Well today was a good day! 10 hourse i spent wading through the pile of boxes that I've relocated to my mom's garage. Boxes of charger parts that in some cases were filled about 35 years ago. I'm now organizing and accounting for what's there, in good or poor condition and what's missing. I can report I have everything for the exterior accept for that little Chrysler symbol that went on the lower right fender. I need new bumpers of course and the 2 sail panel Charger scripts.
