68 Charger quarter panels

So this is the last of the body panels needing work, with the exception of anything needed after it is all together. All the dampener gobs between the halves was rock hard so after years of boxes of crap being thrown on it there is a little protruding dent where they were. Like reverse hail damage. Along with the rest of the normal dents from throwing stuff on it. I am going to hose it down good with a couple heavy primer/surfacer coats before I add any filler.

My bottom door gaps were fairly wide and uneven so I welded extensions on the doors and filled with epoxy. Now they are 3/16 and even. Taking my time finishing up the body work, dont want to rush things at this stage.

Youll live with it, so any time taken is worth it. Its uplifting when they are basically in one piece anyway!

Yeah exactly, now that it is all together I can look at it and grin while I work on other stuff I have been putting off

How is your gap between the trunk lid and the dutchman panel? Is your dutchman is original? I have an AMD dutchman with an original trunk lid and the gap looks too wide at about 1/2".

I would slide that lid forward to a happy spot, and make the correction at the quarter extension........looks like the lid can easily give up an 1/8" sliding forward

Thanks, what would be a proper gap? I lost some of my pictures of before the teardown and can't find any for reference.

I like 3/8 (11/32?) hood to cowl and trunk to dutchman..........it has to have room to open...... other factors such as fender or quarter length also affect fit
